The lion has come up from his thicket, And the destroyer of nations is on his way. He has gone forth from his place To make your land desolate. Your cities will be laid waste, Without inhabitant.

"Behold, he shall come up like a lion from the floodplain of the Jordan Against the dwelling place of the strong; But I will make them suddenly run away from her. And who [is] a chosen [man that] I may appoint over her? For who [is] like Me? Who will arraign Me? And who [is] that shepherd Who will withstand Me?"

At the noise of the taking of Babylon The earth trembles, And the cry is heard among the nations.

[There is] the sound of wailing shepherds! For their glory is in ruins. [There is] the sound of roaring lions! For the pride of the Jordan is in ruins.

" If you have run with the footmen, and they have wearied you, Then how can you contend with horses? And [if] in the land of peace, [In which] you trusted, [they wearied you,] Then how will you do in the floodplain of the Jordan?

and as those who bore the ark came to the Jordan, and the feet of the priests who bore the ark dipped in the edge of the water (for the Jordan overflows all its banks during the whole time of harvest),

These [are] the ones who crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it had overflowed all its banks; and they put to flight all [those] in the valleys, to the east and to the west.

"Who [is] like You, O LORD, among the gods? Who [is] like You, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?

For who in the heavens can be compared to the LORD? [Who] among the sons of the mighty can be likened to the LORD?

O LORD God of hosts, Who [is] mighty like You, O LORD? Your faithfulness also surrounds You.

Who [is] like the LORD our God, Who dwells on high,

Who humbles Himself to behold [The things that are] in the heavens and in the earth?

" To whom then will you liken Me, Or [to whom] shall I be equal?" says the Holy One.

If [it is a matter] of strength, indeed [He is] strong; And if of justice, who will appoint my day [in court?]

"I am blameless, yet I do not know myself; I despise my life.

Oh, that I knew where I might find Him, [That] I might come to His seat!

I would know the words [which] He would answer me, And understand what He would say to me.

There the upright could reason with Him, And I would be delivered forever from my Judge.

"Shall the one who contends with the Almighty correct [Him?] He who rebukes God, let him answer it."

"Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.

Then the LORD answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:

"Would you indeed annul My judgment? Would you condemn Me that you may be justified?

[You asked,] 'Who [is] this who hides counsel without knowledge?' Therefore I have uttered what I did not understand, Things too wonderful for me, which I did not know.

"I have heard of You by the hearing of the ear, But now my eye sees You.

Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous.

Their nobles shall be from among them, And their governor shall come from their midst; Then I will cause him to draw near, And he shall approach Me; For who [is] this who pledged his heart to approach Me?' says the LORD.

No one [is so] fierce that he would dare stir him up. Who then is able to stand against Me?

You, Yourself, [are] to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence When once You are angry?

Who can stand before His indignation? And who can endure the fierceness of His anger? His fury is poured out like fire, And the rocks are thrown down by Him.

"For the great day of His wrath has come, and who is able to stand?"
