You have forsaken Me," says the LORD, "You have gone backward. Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am weary of relenting!

And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he [is] indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years."

Then the LORD saw that the wickedness of man [was] great in the earth, and [that] every intent of the thoughts of his heart [was] only evil continually.

So the LORD said, "I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, creeping thing and birds of the air, for I am sorry that I have made them."

For forty years I was grieved with [that] generation, And said, 'It [is] a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.'

So I swore in My wrath, 'They shall not enter My rest.' "

Therefore the Lord says, The LORD of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel, "Ah, I will rid Myself of My adversaries, And take vengeance on My enemies.

Then he said, "Hear now, O house of David! [Is it] a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also?

You have bought Me no sweet cane with money, Nor have you satisfied Me with the fat of your sacrifices; But you have burdened Me with your sins, You have wearied Me with your iniquities.

' Thus shall My anger be spent, and I will cause My fury to rest upon them, and I will be avenged; and they shall know that I, the LORD, have spoken [it] in My zeal, when I have spent My fury upon them.

" Behold, I am weighed down by you, As a cart full of sheaves is weighed down.

You have wearied the LORD with your words; Yet you say, "In what way have we wearied [Him?"] In that you say, "Everyone who does evil [Is] good in the sight of the LORD, And He delights in them," Or, "Where [is] the God of justice?"

Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

[What] if God, wanting to show [His] wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

But the heavens and the earth [which] are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

The Lord is not slack concerning [His] promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

"Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: 'You have seen all the calamity that I have brought on Jerusalem and on all the cities of Judah; and behold, this day they [are] a desolation, and no one dwells in them,

'So My fury and My anger were poured out and kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted [and] desolate, as it is this day.'

'And I will take the remnant of Judah who have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to dwell there, and they shall all be consumed [and] fall in the land of Egypt. They shall be consumed by the sword [and] by famine. They shall die, from the least to the greatest, by the sword and by famine; and they shall be an oath, an astonishment, a curse and a reproach!

To make their land desolate [and] a perpetual hissing; Everyone who passes by it will be astonished And shake his head.

'I will deliver them to trouble into all the kingdoms of the earth, for [their] harm, [to be] a reproach and a byword, a taunt and a curse, in all places where I shall drive them.

'And this whole land shall be a desolation [and] an astonishment, and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

Jerusalem and the cities of Judah, its kings and its princes, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, a hissing, and a curse, as [it is] this day;

He has left His lair like the lion; For their land is desolate Because of the fierceness of the Oppressor, And because of His fierce anger."

"then I will make this house like Shiloh, and will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth." ' "

because they have not heeded My words, says the LORD, which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them;] neither would you heed, says the LORD.

"then I will cut off Israel from the land which I have given them; and this house which I have consecrated for My name I will cast out of My sight. Israel will be a proverb and a byword among all peoples.

"And [as for] this house, [which] is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and will hiss, and say, 'Why has the LORD done thus to this land and to this house?'

All who pass by clap [their] hands at you; They hiss and shake their heads At the daughter of Jerusalem: "[Is] this the city that is called 'The perfection of beauty, The joy of the whole earth'?"

All your enemies have opened their mouth against you; They hiss and gnash [their] teeth. They say, "We have swallowed [her] up! Surely this [is] the day we have waited for; We have found [it,] we have seen [it!"]

"And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our judges who judged us, by bringing upon us a great disaster; for under the whole heaven such has never been done as what has been done to Jerusalem.
