Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years;

Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. [He made] the stars also.

and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that [it was] good.

"And [take heed,] lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and [when] you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.

Do you know the ordinances of the heavens? Can you set their dominion over the earth?

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. The heavens declare the glory of God; And the firmament shows His handiwork.

[There is] no speech nor language [Where] their voice is not heard.

Which [is] like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, [And] rejoices like a strong man to run its race.

They shall fear You As long as the sun and moon endure, Throughout all generations.

His name shall endure forever; His name shall continue as long as the sun. And [men] shall be blessed in Him; All nations shall call Him blessed.

The day [is] Yours, the night also [is] Yours; You have prepared the light and the sun.

For I have said, "Mercy shall be built up forever; Your faithfulness You shall establish in the very heavens."

His seed shall endure forever, And his throne as the sun before Me;

It shall be established forever like the moon, Even [like] the faithful witness in the sky." Selah

Forever, O LORD, Your word is settled in heaven.

To Him who made great lights, For His mercy [endures] forever --

The moon and stars to rule by night, For His mercy [endures] forever.

"that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the LORD caused the sea to go [back] by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry [land,] and the waters were divided.

So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry [ground,] and the waters [were] a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

He stirs up the sea with His power, And by His understanding He breaks up the storm.

You divided the sea by Your strength; You broke the heads of the sea serpents in the waters.

He divided the sea and caused them to pass through; And He made the waters stand up like a heap.

He rebuked the Red Sea also, and it dried up; So He led them through the depths, As through the wilderness.

The sea saw [it] and fled; Jordan turned back.

What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, [that] you turned back?

But I [am] the LORD your God, Who divided the sea whose waves roared -- The LORD of hosts [is] His name.

Who led [them] by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name,

Do you not fear Me?' says the LORD. 'Will you not tremble at My presence, Who have placed the sand as the bound of the sea, By a perpetual decree, that it cannot pass beyond it? And though its waves toss to and fro, Yet they cannot prevail; Though they roar, yet they cannot pass over it.

When I fixed My limit for it, And set bars and doors;

When I said, 'This far you may come, but no farther, And here your proud waves must stop!'

The floods have lifted up, O LORD, The floods have lifted up their voice; The floods lift up their waves.

The LORD on high [is] mightier Than the noise of many waters, [Than] the mighty waves of the sea.

For He commands and raises the stormy wind, Which lifts up the waves of the sea.

They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, And are at their wits' end.

He calms the storm, So that its waves are still.

But I [am] the LORD your God, Who divided the sea whose waves roared -- The LORD of hosts [is] His name.

Then His disciples came to [Him] and awoke Him, saying, "Lord, save us! We are perishing!"

But He said to them, "Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?" Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

The Portion of Jacob [is] not like them, For He [is] the Maker of all [things,] And Israel [is] the tribe of His inheritance; The LORD of hosts [is] His name.

'[You] show lovingkindness to thousands, and repay the iniquity of the fathers into the bosom of their children after them -- the Great, the Mighty God, whose name [is] the LORD of hosts.

"[As] I live," says the King, Whose name [is] the LORD of hosts, "Surely as Tabor [is] among the mountains And as Carmel by the sea, [so] he shall come.

Their Redeemer [is] strong; The LORD of hosts [is] His name. He will thoroughly plead their case, That He may give rest to the land, And disquiet the inhabitants of Babylon.

The Portion of Jacob [is] not like them, For He [is] the Maker of all things; And [Israel is] the tribe of His inheritance. The LORD of hosts [is] His name.

For they call themselves after the holy city, And lean on the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts [is] His name:

For your Maker [is] your husband, The LORD of hosts [is] His name; And your Redeemer [is] the Holy One of Israel; He is called the God of the whole earth.
