Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: "Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.

"For if you thoroughly amend your ways and your doings, if you thoroughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbor,

"then I will cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers forever and ever.

"I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them,] saying, 'Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.' But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

"It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the adversities which I purpose to bring upon them, that everyone may turn from his evil way, that I may forgive their iniquity and their sin."

But Jeremiah said, "They shall not deliver [you.] Please, obey the voice of the LORD which I speak to you. So it shall be well with you, and your soul shall live.

If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land;

Let the wicked forsake his way, And the unrighteous man his thoughts; Let him return to the LORD, And He will have mercy on him; And to our God, For He will abundantly pardon.

"Say to them: '[As] I live,' says the Lord GOD, 'I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?'

O Israel, return to the LORD your God, For you have stumbled because of your iniquity;

Assyria shall not save us, We will not ride on horses, Nor will we say anymore to the work of our hands, '[You are] our gods.' For in You the fatherless finds mercy."

And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,

'Perhaps everyone will listen and turn from his evil way, that I may relent concerning the calamity which I purpose to bring on them because of the evil of their doings.'

"Did Hezekiah king of Judah and all Judah ever put him to death? Did he not fear the LORD and seek the LORD's favor? And the Lord relented concerning the doom which He had pronounced against them. But we are doing great evil against ourselves."

"if that nation against whom I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent of the disaster that I thought to bring upon it.

'If you will still remain in this land, then I will build you and not pull [you] down, and I will plant you and not pluck [you] up. For I relent concerning the disaster that I have brought upon you.

So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.

"For the LORD will judge His people And have compassion on His servants, When He sees that [their] power is gone, And [there is] no one [remaining,] bond or free.

And when the LORD raised up judges for them, the LORD was with the judge and delivered them out of the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the LORD was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed them and harassed them.

Who knows [if] He will turn and relent, And leave a blessing behind Him -- A grain offering and a drink offering For the LORD your God?

Who can tell [if] God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish?

So he prayed to the LORD, and said, "Ah, LORD, was not this what I said when I was still in my country? Therefore I fled previously to Tarshish; for I know that You [are] a gracious and merciful God, slow to anger and abundant in lovingkindness, One who relents from doing harm.
