to whom the word of the LORD came in the days of Josiah the son of Amon, king of Judah, in the thirteenth year of his reign.

And the king of Israel said to his servants, "Do you know that Ramoth in Gilead [is] ours, but we hesitate to take it out of the hand of the king of Syria?"

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images.

In the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land and the temple, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.

"And the LORD has sent to you all His servants the prophets, rising early and sending [them,] but you have not listened nor inclined your ear to hear.

"And now, because you have done all these works," says the LORD, "and I spoke to you, rising up early and speaking, but you did not hear, and I called you, but you did not answer,

'For I earnestly exhorted your fathers in the day I brought them up out of the land of Egypt, until this day, rising early and exhorting, saying, "Obey My voice."

because they have not heeded My words, says the LORD, which I sent to them by My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them;] neither would you heed, says the LORD.

"I have also sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them,] saying, 'Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.' But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

'However I have sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising early and sending [them,] saying, "Oh, do not do this abominable thing that I hate!"

So Abraham rose early in the morning and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son; and he split the wood for the burnt offering, and arose and went to the place of which God had told him.

And the LORD said to Moses, "Rise early in the morning and stand before Pharaoh as he comes out to the water. Then say to him, 'Thus says the LORD: "Let My people go, that they may serve Me.

"Oh, that My people would listen to Me, That Israel would walk in My ways!

Why do you spend money for [what is] not bread, And your wages for [what] does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat [what is] good, And let your soul delight itself in abundance.

Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.

Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.

"He who is of God hears God's words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God."

Preach the word! Be ready in season [and] out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.
