Then said I: "Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I cannot speak, for I [am] a youth."

Do not be afraid of their faces, For I [am] with you to deliver you," says the LORD.

Why is my pain perpetual And my wound incurable, [Which] refuses to be healed? Will You surely be to me like an unreliable stream, [As] waters [that] fail?

As for me, I have not hurried away from [being] a shepherd [who] follows You, Nor have I desired the woeful day; You know what came out of my lips; It was right there before You.

So Moses returned to the LORD and said, "Lord, why have You brought trouble on this people? Why [is] it You have sent me?

"For since I came to Pharaoh to speak in Your name, he has done evil to this people; neither have You delivered Your people at all."

So Moses said to the LORD, "Why have You afflicted Your servant? And why have I not found favor in Your sight, that You have laid the burden of all these people on me?

"Where am I to get meat to give to all these people? For they weep all over me, saying, 'Give us meat, that we may eat.'

"If You treat me like this, please kill me here and now -- if I have found favor in Your sight -- and do not let me see my wretchedness!"

Then I said, "I will not make mention of Him, Nor speak anymore in His name." But [His word] was in my heart like a burning fire Shut up in my bones; I was weary of holding [it] back, And I could not.

So the Spirit lifted me up and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of the LORD, And of justice and might, To declare to Jacob his transgression And to Israel his sin.

Or [is it] only Barnabas and I [who] have no right to refrain from working?

Woe is me, my mother, That you have borne me, A man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent for interest, Nor have men lent to me for interest. Every one of them curses me.

"The LORD has made you priest instead of Jehoiada the priest, so that there should be officers [in] the house of the LORD over every man [who] is demented and considers himself a prophet, that you should put him in prison and in the stocks.

Then he went up from there to Bethel; and as he was going up the road, some youths came from the city and mocked him, and said to him, "Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!"

But I [am] a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, [saying,]

But in my adversity they rejoiced And gathered together; Attackers gathered against me, And I did not know [it;] They tore [at me] and did not cease;

With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.

Because zeal for Your house has eaten me up, And the reproaches of those who reproach You have fallen on me.

I also made sackcloth my garment; I became a byword to them.

I have become the ridicule of all my people -- Their taunting song all the day.

The days of punishment have come; The days of recompense have come. Israel knows! The prophet [is] a fool, The spiritual man [is] insane, Because of the greatness of your iniquity and great enmity.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

Now the men who held Jesus mocked Him and beat Him.

And having blindfolded Him, they struck Him on the face and asked Him, saying, "Prophesy! Who is the one who struck You?"

Then Herod, with his men of war, treated Him with contempt and mocked [Him,] arrayed Him in a gorgeous robe, and sent Him back to Pilate.

And the people stood looking on. But even the rulers with them sneered, saying, "He saved others; let Him save Himself if He is the Christ, the chosen of God."

The soldiers also mocked Him, coming and offering Him sour wine,

Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, "What does this babbler want to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods," because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, "We will hear you again on this [matter."]

For I think that God has displayed us, the apostles, last, as men condemned to death; for we have been made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men.

To the present hour we both hunger and thirst, and we are poorly clothed, and beaten, and homeless.

being defamed, we entreat. We have been made as the filth of the world, the offscouring of all things until now.

Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.
