You have increased the nation, O LORD, You have increased the nation; You are glorified; You have expanded all the borders of the land.

Then Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive the rest of the people [who] remained in the city and the defectors who had deserted to the king of Babylon, with the rest of the multitude.

Then the king of Babylon struck them and put them to death at Riblah in the land of Hamath. Thus Judah was carried away captive from its own land.

"I will hand them over to trouble, to all kingdoms of the earth, because of Manasseh the son of Hezekiah, king of Judah, for what he did in Jerusalem.

These [are] the people whom Nebuchadnezzar carried away captive: in the seventh year, three thousand and twenty-three Jews;

in the twenty-third year of Nebuchadnezzar, Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carried away captive of the Jews seven hundred and forty-five persons. All the persons [were] four thousand six hundred.

The whole city shall flee from the noise of the horsemen and bowmen. They shall go into thickets and climb up on the rocks. Every city [shall be] forsaken, And not a man shall dwell in it.

" I have forsaken My house, I have left My heritage; I have given the dearly beloved of My soul into the hand of her enemies.

Why do You forget us forever, [And] forsake us for so long a time?

I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, [of] the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,

For if their being cast away [is] the reconciling of the world, what [will] their acceptance [be] but life from the dead?
