Thus says the LORD, The Redeemer of Israel, their Holy One, To Him whom man despises, To Him whom the nation abhors, To the Servant of rulers: "Kings shall see and arise, Princes also shall worship, Because of the LORD who is faithful, The Holy One of Israel; And He has chosen You."

I gave My back to those who struck [Me,] And My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard; I did not hide My face from shame and spitting.

But I [am] a worm, and no man; A reproach of men, and despised by the people.

"He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!"

When I wept [and chastened] my soul with fasting, That became my reproach.

Those who sit in the gate speak against me, And I [am] the song of the drunkards.

Now gather yourself in troops, O daughter of troops; He has laid siege against us; They will strike the judge of Israel with a rod on the cheek.

I dismissed the three shepherds in one month. My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me.

Then I said to them, "If it is agreeable to you, give [me] my wages; and if not, refrain." So they weighed out for my wages thirty [pieces] of silver.

And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter" -- that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty [pieces] of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.

Then they spat in His face and beat Him; and others struck [Him] with the palms of their hands,

And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads

Likewise the chief priests also, mocking with the scribes and elders, said,

"He trusted in God; let Him deliver Him now if He will have Him; for He said, 'I am the Son of God.' "

Then He answered and told them, "Indeed, Elijah is coming first and restores all things. And how is it written concerning the Son of Man, that He must suffer many things and be treated with contempt?

Then they struck Him on the head with a reed and spat on Him; and bowing the knee, they worshiped Him.

And they ridiculed Him, knowing that she was dead.

saying, "The Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised the third day."

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

And they all cried out at once, saying, "Away with this [Man,] and release to us Barabbas" --

Pilate, therefore, wishing to release Jesus, again called out to them.

Then he said to them the third time, "Why, what evil has He done? I have found no reason for death in Him. I will therefore chastise Him and let [Him] go."

So Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they requested.

Then the Jews answered and said to Him, "Do we not say rightly that You are a Samaritan and have a demon?"

looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of [our] faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.

For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.

Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise Him; He has put [Him] to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see [His] seed, He shall prolong [His] days, And the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in His hand.

But I [am] poor and sorrowful; Let Your salvation, O God, set me up on high.

And He took with Him Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, and He began to be sorrowful and deeply distressed.

Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me."

Then He said to them, "My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, [even] to death. Stay here and watch."

Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it,

Jesus wept.

and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage.

Therefore, in all things He had to be made like [His] brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things [pertaining] to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.

For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all [points] tempted as [we are, yet] without sin.

who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear,

" But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God [who] made him, And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

And the LORD said to me, "Throw it to the potter" -- that princely price they set on me. So I took the thirty [pieces] of silver and threw them into the house of the LORD for the potter.

Then was fulfilled what was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, "And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the value of Him who was priced, whom they of the children of Israel priced,

"and gave them for the potter's field, as the LORD directed me."

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.

"The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [Him] go.

"and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
