"Look! You are trusting in the staff of this broken reed, Egypt, on which if a man leans, it will go into his hand and pierce it. So [is] Pharaoh king of Egypt to all who trust in him.

How could one chase a thousand, And two put ten thousand to flight, Unless their Rock had sold them, And the LORD had surrendered them?

For their rock [is] not like our Rock, Even our enemies themselves [being] judges.

Put them in fear, O LORD, [That] the nations may know themselves [to be but] men. Selah

Do not put your trust in princes, [Nor] in a son of man, in whom [there is] no help.

Happy [is he] who [has] the God of Jacob for his help, Whose hope [is] in the LORD his God,

"Will you still say before him who slays you, 'I [am] a god'? But you [shall be] a man, and not a god, In the hand of him who slays you.

And the people kept shouting, "The voice of a god and not of a man!"

Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.

who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.

And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time.

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.

A horse [is] a vain hope for safety; Neither shall it deliver [any] by its great strength.

Therefore the LORD will have no joy in their young men, Nor have mercy on their fatherless and widows; For everyone [is] a hypocrite and an evildoer, And every mouth speaks folly. For all this His anger is not turned away, But His hand [is] stretched out still.

You have forsaken Me," says the LORD, "You have gone backward. Therefore I will stretch out My hand against you and destroy you; I am weary of relenting!

" [As] I live," says the Lord GOD, "surely with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out, I will rule over you.

"I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand, with an outstretched arm, and with fury poured out.

"Thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, 'Thus you shall say to the king of Judah, who sent you to Me to inquire of Me: "Behold, Pharaoh's army which has come up to help you will return to Egypt, to their own land.

"Thus says the LORD: 'Do not deceive yourselves, saying, "The Chaldeans will surely depart from us," for they will not depart.
