" For My thoughts [are] not your thoughts, Nor [are] your ways My ways," says the LORD.

And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,

" Therefore, behold, I will allure her, Will bring her into the wilderness, And speak comfort to her.

Moreover the law entered that the offense might abound. But where sin abounded, grace abounded much more,

For He says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whomever I will have mercy, and I will have compassion on whomever I will have compassion."

For the Scripture says to Pharaoh, "For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may show My power in you, and that My name may be declared in all the earth."

For so the LORD said to me, "I will take My rest, And I will look from My dwelling place Like clear heat in sunshine, Like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."

For the iniquity of his covetousness I was angry and struck him; I hid and was angry, And he went on backsliding in the way of his heart.

I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will also lead him, And restore comforts to him And to his mourners.

" I have surely heard Ephraim bemoaning himself: 'You have chastised me, and I was chastised, Like an untrained bull; Restore me, and I will return, For You [are] the LORD my God.

[Is] Ephraim My dear son? [Is he] a pleasant child? For though I spoke against him, I earnestly remember him still; Therefore My heart yearns for him; I will surely have mercy on him, says the LORD.

I will return again to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me."

Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight.

" How can I give you up, Ephraim? [How] can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? [How] can I set you like Zeboiim? My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred.

I will not execute the fierceness of My anger; I will not again destroy Ephraim. For I [am] God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst; And I will not come with terror.

And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!"

Then word came to the king of Nineveh; and he arose from his throne and laid aside his robe, covered [himself] with sackcloth and sat in ashes.

But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands.

Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

And behold, a woman of Canaan came from that region and cried out to Him, saying, "Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David! My daughter is severely demon-possessed."

But He answered and said, "I was not sent except to the lost sheep of the house of Israel."

But He answered and said, "It is not good to take the children's bread and throw [it] to the little dogs."

Then Jesus answered and said to her, "O woman, great [is] your faith! Let it be to you as you desire." And her daughter was healed from that very hour.

"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.

[What] if God, wanting to show [His] wrath and to make His power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,

The Lord is not slack concerning [His] promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.

and consider [that] the longsuffering of our Lord [is] salvation -- as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you,

" Now I will rise," says the LORD; "Now I will be exalted, Now I will lift Myself up.

And the people shall be [like] the burnings of lime; [Like] thorns cut up they shall be burned in the fire.

Be still, and know that I [am] God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

The LORD of hosts [is] with us; The God of Jacob [is] our refuge. Selah

The stouthearted were plundered; They have sunk into their sleep; And none of the mighty men have found the use of their hands.

You, Yourself, [are] to be feared; And who may stand in Your presence When once You are angry?

When God arose to judgment, To deliver all the oppressed of the earth. Selah

"Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory?"

And beginning at Moses and all the Prophets, He expounded to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

"Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.

Till I make Your enemies Your footstool." '

Now when they heard [this,] they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, "Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?"

"For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call."

"Him God has exalted to His right hand [to be] Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.

to the praise of the glory of His grace, by which He has made us accepted in the Beloved.

which He worked in Christ when He raised Him from the dead and seated [Him] at His right hand in the heavenly [places,]

And He put all [things] under His feet, and gave Him [to be] head over all [things] to the church,

The LORD is exalted, for He dwells on high; He has filled Zion with justice and righteousness.

"Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One [in whom] My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.

A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth.

[He is] the Rock, His work [is] perfect; For all His ways [are] justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright [is] He.

"Talk no more so very proudly; Let no arrogance come from your mouth, For the LORD [is] the God of knowledge; And by Him actions are weighed.

Although you say you do not see Him, [Yet] justice [is] before Him, and you must wait for Him.

The King's strength also loves justice; You have established equity; You have executed justice and righteousness in Jacob.

O LORD, correct me, but with justice; Not in Your anger, lest You bring me to nothing.

Pour out Your fury on the Gentiles, who do not know You, And on the families who do not call on Your name; For they have eaten up Jacob, Devoured him and consumed him, And made his dwelling place desolate.

Who [is] a God like You, Pardoning iniquity And passing over the transgression of the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His anger forever, Because He delights [in] mercy.

You will give truth to Jacob [And] mercy to Abraham, Which You have sworn to our fathers From days of old.

You have wearied the LORD with your words; Yet you say, "In what way have we wearied [Him?"] In that you say, "Everyone who does evil [Is] good in the sight of the LORD, And He delights in them," Or, "Where [is] the God of justice?"

But we know that the judgment of God is according to truth against those who practice such things.

Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?

who "will render to each one according to his deeds":

but to those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness -- indignation and wrath,

but glory, honor, and peace to everyone who works what is good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

which He made to abound toward us in all wisdom and prudence,

And I will wait on the LORD, Who hides His face from the house of Jacob; And I will hope in Him.

And it will be said in that day: "Behold, this [is] our God; We have waited for Him, and He will save us. This [is] the LORD; We have waited for Him; We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation."

The way of the just [is] uprightness; O Most Upright, You weigh the path of the just.

Yes, in the way of Your judgments, O LORD, we have waited for You; The desire of [our] soul [is] for Your name And for the remembrance of You.

But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew [their] strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.

Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish [in] the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed [are] all those who put their trust in Him.

Wait on the LORD; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the LORD!

Blessed [be] the LORD, Because He has heard the voice of my supplications!

The LORD [is] my strength and my shield; My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, And with my song I will praise Him.

Oh, taste and see that the LORD [is] good; Blessed [is] the man [who] trusts in Him!

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.

He has put a new song in my mouth -- Praise to our God; Many will see [it] and fear, And will trust in the LORD.

To the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm of David. Truly my soul silently [waits] for God; From Him [comes] my salvation.

He only [is] my rock and my salvation; [He is] my defense; I shall not be greatly moved.

My soul, wait silently for God alone, For my expectation [is] from Him.

In God [is] my salvation and my glory; The rock of my strength, [And] my refuge, [is] in God.

O LORD of hosts, Blessed [is] the man who trusts in You!

He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the LORD, happy [is] he.

"Blessed [is] the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.

The LORD [is] good to those who wait for Him, To the soul [who] seeks Him.

[It is] good that [one] should hope and wait quietly For the salvation of the LORD.

Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

I will bear the indignation of the LORD, Because I have sinned against Him, Until He pleads my case And executes justice for me. He will bring me forth to the light; I will see His righteousness.

And behold, there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon, and this man was just and devout, waiting for the Consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him.

But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly wait for [it] with perseverance.

Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit [is,] because He makes intercession for the saints according to [the will of] God.

Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end [intended by] the Lord -- that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.
