Now the two of them went until they came to Bethlehem. And it happened, when they had come to Bethlehem, that all the city was excited because of them; and the women said, "[Is] this Naomi?"

"I went out full, and the LORD has brought me home again empty. Why do you call me Naomi, since the LORD has testified against me, and the Almighty has afflicted me?"

My skin grows black and falls from me; My bones burn with fever.

For the hurt of the daughter of my people I am hurt. I am mourning; Astonishment has taken hold of me.

[Now] their appearance is blacker than soot; They go unrecognized in the streets; Their skin clings to their bones, It has become as dry as wood.

"But when the sun was up it was scorched, and because it had no root it withered away.

strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting [them] to continue in the faith, and [saying,] "We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God."

I have become a stranger to my brothers, And an alien to my mother's children;

For even your brothers, the house of your father, Even they have dealt treacherously with you; Yes, they have called a multitude after you. Do not believe them, Even though they speak smooth words to you.

For son dishonors father, Daughter rises against her mother, Daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; A man's enemies [are] the men of his own household.

"And you will be hated by all for My name's sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.

"It is enough for a disciple that he be like his teacher, and a servant like his master. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more [will they call] those of his household!

"For I have come to 'set a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law';

"and 'a man's enemies will be those of his [own] household.'

"Do [you] suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division.

"Father will be divided against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law."

But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him [who was born] according to the Spirit, even so [it is] now.

Solomon had a vineyard at Baal Hamon; He leased the vineyard to keepers; Everyone was to bring for its fruit A thousand silver coins. (TO SOLOMON)
