Walk prudently when you go to the house of God; and draw near to hear rather than to give the sacrifice of fools, for they do not know that they do evil.

Do not be rash with your mouth, And let not your heart utter anything hastily before God. For God [is] in heaven, and you on earth; Therefore let your words be few.

If anyone among you thinks he is religious, and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this one's religion [is] useless.

For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he [is] a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body.

'Or if a person swears, speaking thoughtlessly with [his] lips to do evil or to do good, whatever [it is] that a man may pronounce by an oath, and he is unaware of it -- when he realizes [it,] then he shall be guilty in any of these [matters.]

'And it shall be, when he is guilty in any of these [matters,] that he shall confess that he has sinned in that [thing;]

The Angel who has redeemed me from all evil, Bless the lads; Let my name be named upon them, And the name of my fathers Abraham and Isaac; And let them grow into a multitude in the midst of the earth."

Yes, he struggled with the Angel and prevailed; He wept, and sought favor from Him. He found Him [in] Bethel, And there He spoke to us --

That is, the LORD God of hosts. The LORD [is] His memorable name.

"For the lips of a priest should keep knowledge, And [people] should seek the law from his mouth; For he is the messenger of the LORD of hosts.

"Behold, I send My messenger, And he will prepare the way before Me. And the Lord, whom you seek, Will suddenly come to His temple, Even the Messenger of the covenant, In whom you delight. Behold, He is coming," Says the LORD of hosts.

"And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai.

"[saying,] 'I [am] the God of your fathers -- the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' And Moses trembled and dared not look.

"I have surely seen the oppression of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their groaning and have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you to Egypt." '

For this reason the woman ought to have [a symbol of] authority on [her] head, because of the angels.

I charge [you] before God and the Lord Jesus Christ and the elect angels that you observe these things without prejudice, doing nothing with partiality.

Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to minister for those who will inherit salvation?

'Or if a person swears, speaking thoughtlessly with [his] lips to do evil or to do good, whatever [it is] that a man may pronounce by an oath, and he is unaware of it -- when he realizes [it,] then he shall be guilty in any of these [matters.]

'and he shall bring his trespass offering to the LORD for his sin which he has committed, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats as a sin offering. So the priest shall make atonement for him concerning his sin.

' If [it is] an animal that men may bring as an offering to the LORD, all that [anyone] gives to the LORD shall be holy.

'He shall not substitute it or exchange it, good for bad or bad for good; and if he at all exchanges animal for animal, then both it and the one exchanged for it shall be holy.

"[You] looked for much, but indeed [it came to] little; and when you brought it home, I blew it away. Why?" says the LORD of hosts. "Because of My house that [is in] ruins, while every one of you runs to his own house.

"For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of [your] hands."

Then Haggai answered and said, " 'So is this people, and so is this nation before Me,' says the LORD, 'and so is every work of their hands; and what they offer there is unclean.

'since those [days,] when [one] came to a heap of twenty ephahs, there were [but] ten; when [one] came to the wine vat to draw out fifty baths from the press, there were [but] twenty.

each one's work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one's work, of what sort it is.

If anyone's work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

Look to yourselves, that we do not lose those things we worked for, but [that] we may receive a full reward.
