But he said, "My son shall not go down with you, for his brother is dead, and he is left alone. If any calamity should befall him along the way in which you go, then you would bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave."

'But if you take this one also from me, and calamity befalls him, you shall bring down my gray hair with sorrow to the grave.'

"it will happen, when he sees that the lad [is] not [with us,] that he will die. So your servants will bring down the gray hair of your servant our father with sorrow to the grave.

' You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I [am] the LORD.

Both the gray-haired and the aged [are] among us, Much older than your father.

Now also when [I am] old and grayheaded, O God, do not forsake me, Until I declare Your strength to [this] generation, Your power to everyone [who] is to come.

The silver-haired head [is] a crown of glory, [If] it is found in the way of righteousness.

The glory of young men [is] their strength, And the splendor of old men [is] their gray head.

Even to [your] old age, I [am] He, And [even] to gray hairs I will carry [you!] I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver [you.]

Moreover the word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Jeremiah, what do you see?" And I said, "I see a branch of an almond tree."

Whatever your hand finds to do, do [it] with your might; for [there is] no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.

If I wait [for] the grave [as] my house, If I make my bed in the darkness,

For I know [that] You will bring me [to] death, And [to] the house appointed for all living.

For he sees wise men die; Likewise the fool and the senseless person perish, And leave their wealth to others.

Nevertheless man, [though] in honor, does not remain; He is like the beasts [that] perish.

Like sheep they are laid in the grave; Death shall feed on them; The upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; And their beauty shall be consumed in the grave, far from their dwelling.

And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,

Forty days were required for him, for such are the days required for those who are embalmed; and the Egyptians mourned for him seventy days.

'My father made me swear, saying, "Behold, I am dying; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me." Now therefore, please let me go up and bury my father, and I will come back.' "

So Joseph went up to bury his father; and with him went up all the servants of Pharaoh, the elders of his house, and all the elders of the land of Egypt,

And there went up with him both chariots and horsemen, and it was a very great gathering.

Thus says the LORD of hosts: "Consider and call for the mourning women, That they may come; And send for skillful wailing women, That they may come.

For a voice of wailing is heard from Zion: 'How we are plundered! We are greatly ashamed, Because we have forsaken the land, Because we have been cast out of our dwellings.' "

Then He came to the house of the ruler of the synagogue, and saw a tumult and those who wept and wailed loudly.

When He came in, He said to them, "Why make this commotion and weep? The child is not dead, but sleeping."
