Correct your son, and he will give you rest; Yes, he will give delight to your soul.

He who pampers his servant from childhood Will have him as a son in the end.

Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.

Foolishness [is] bound up in the heart of a child; The rod of correction will drive it far from him.

Do not withhold correction from a child, For [if] you beat him with a rod, he will not die.

You shall beat him with a rod, And deliver his soul from hell.

For they indeed for a few days chastened [us] as seemed [best] to them, but He for [our] profit, that [we] may be partakers of His holiness.

The Proverbs of Solomon: A wise son makes a glad father, But a foolish son [is] the grief of his mother.

He who gathers in summer [is] a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest [is] a son who causes shame.

He who begets a scoffer [does so] to his sorrow, And the father of a fool has no joy.

A foolish son [is] a grief to his father, And bitterness to her who bore him.
