A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

Do not eat the bread of a miser, Nor desire his delicacies;

'Is it not lawful for me to do what I wish with my own things? Or is your eye evil because I am good?'

"thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness.

And Lot lifted his eyes and saw all the plain of Jordan, that it [was] well watered everywhere (before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah) like the garden of the LORD, like the land of Egypt as you go toward Zoar.

Abram dwelt in the land of Canaan, and Lot dwelt in the cities of the plain and pitched [his] tent even as far as Sodom.

So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed."

He will restore that for which he labored, And will not swallow [it] down; From the proceeds of business He will get no enjoyment.

"Because he knows no quietness in his heart, He will not save anything he desires.

In his self-sufficiency he will be in distress; Every hand of misery will come against him.

Though he heaps up silver like dust, And piles up clothing like clay --

He may pile [it] up, but the just will wear [it,] And the innocent will divide the silver.
