When the wicked arise, men hide themselves; But when they perish, the righteous increase.

When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices; And when the wicked perish, [there is] jubilation.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked [man] rules, the people groan.

So David, the elders of Israel, and the captains over thousands went to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD from the house of Obed-Edom with joy.

David was clothed with a robe of fine linen, as were all the Levites who bore the ark, the singers, and Chenaniah the music master [with] the singers. David also wore a linen ephod.

On that day David first delivered [this psalm] into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD:

Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him; Talk of all His wondrous works!

Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face evermore!

O seed of Israel His servant, You children of Jacob, His chosen ones!

Remember His covenant forever, The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,

And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute, To Israel [for] an everlasting covenant,

When you were few in number, Indeed very few, and strangers in it.

He permitted no man to do them wrong; Yes, He rebuked kings for their sakes,

Sing to the LORD, all the earth; Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.

For the LORD [is] great and greatly to be praised; He [is] also to be feared above all gods.

Honor and majesty [are] before Him; Strength and gladness are in His place.

Give to the LORD the glory [due] His name; Bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness!

Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; And let them say among the nations, "The LORD reigns."

Then the trees of the woods shall rejoice before the LORD, For He is coming to judge the earth.

And say, "Save us, O God of our salvation; Gather us together, and deliver us from the Gentiles, To give thanks to Your holy name, To triumph in Your praise."

Then David said to all the assembly, "Now bless the LORD your God." So all the assembly blessed the LORD God of their fathers, and bowed their heads and prostrated themselves before the LORD and the king.

So they ate and drank before the LORD with great gladness on that day. And they made Solomon the son of David king the second time, and anointed [him] before the LORD [to be] the leader, and Zadok [to be] priest.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the good that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel.

And Hezekiah gave encouragement to all the Levites who taught the good knowledge of the LORD; and they ate throughout the feast seven days, offering peace offerings and making confession to the LORD God of their fathers.

For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the leaders gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

So there was great joy in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel, [there had] been nothing like this in Jerusalem.

So Mordecai went out from the presence of the king in royal apparel of blue and white, with a great crown of gold and a garment of fine linen and purple; and the city of Shushan rejoiced and was glad.

And in every province and city, wherever the king's command and decree came, the Jews had joy and gladness, a feast and a holiday. Then many of the people of the land became Jews, because fear of the Jews fell upon them.

When the ear heard, then it blessed me, And when the eye saw, then it approved me;

The blessing of a perishing [man] came upon me, And I caused the widow's heart to sing for joy.

I [was] eyes to the blind, And I [was] feet to the lame.

I broke the fangs of the wicked, And plucked the victim from his teeth.

My root [is] spread out to the waters, And the dew lies all night on my branch.

Then, as He was now drawing near the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works they had seen,

saying: " 'Blessed [is] the King who comes in the name of the LORD!' Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!"

"Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that [there is] neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it.

"Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

So he went and did according to the word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan.

And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.

"Arise, go to Zarephath, which [belongs] to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you."

And as she was going to get [it,] he called to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."

And Elijah said to her, "Do not fear; go [and] do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring [it] to me; and afterward make [some] for yourself and your son.

So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for [many] days.

Now it happened after these things [that] the son of the woman who owned the house became sick. And his sickness was so serious that there was no breath left in him.

And he said to her, "Give me your son." So he took him out of her arms and carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on his own bed.

And he stretched himself out on the child three times, and cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray, let this child's soul come back to him."

And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper room into the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your son lives!"

"Was it not reported to my lord what I did when Jezebel killed the prophets of the LORD, how I hid one hundred men of the LORD's prophets, fifty to a cave, and fed them with bread and water?

And when he saw [that,] he arose and ran for his life, and went to Beersheba, which [belongs] to Judah, and left his servant there.

Folly is set in great dignity, While the rich sit in a lowly place.

Woe to you, O land, when your king [is] a child, And your princes feast in the morning!

And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to seize Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet, but the LORD hid them.

They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented --

of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, [in] dens and caves of the earth.

"Run to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem; See now and know; And seek in her open places If you can find a man, If there is [anyone] who executes judgment, Who seeks the truth, And I will pardon her.
