A wise [man] will hear and increase learning, And a man of understanding will attain wise counsel,

Give [instruction] to a wise [man,] and he will be still wiser; Teach a just [man,] and he will increase in learning.

Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction [is] stupid.

The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way, But the folly of fools [is] deceit.

Give me understanding, and I shall keep Your law; Indeed, I shall observe it with [my] whole heart.

Who [is] wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct [that] his works [are done] in the meekness of wisdom.

He who winks with the eye causes trouble, But a prating fool will fall.

The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of [his] lips, But the righteous will come through trouble.

He who guards his mouth preserves his life, [But] he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

In all labor there is profit, But idle chatter [leads] only to poverty.

The words of a wise man's mouth [are] gracious, But the lips of a fool shall swallow him up;

A fool's lips enter into contention, And his mouth calls for blows.

A fool's mouth [is] his destruction, And his lips [are] the snare of his soul.
