Give [instruction] to a wise [man,] and he will be still wiser; Teach a just [man,] and he will increase in learning.

Whoever loves instruction loves knowledge, But he who hates correction [is] stupid.

" Therefore listen to me, you men of understanding: Far be it from God [to do] wickedness, And [from] the Almighty to [commit] iniquity.

"If [you have] understanding, hear this; listen to the sound of my words:

"Men of understanding say to me, Wise men who listen to me:

You, through Your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies; For they [are] ever with me.

I understand more than the ancients, Because I keep Your precepts.

I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.

Then David said to Abigail: "Blessed [is] the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me!

"And blessed [is] your advice and blessed [are] you, because you have kept me this day from coming to bloodshed and from avenging myself with my own hand.

So it was, as he talked with him, that [the king] said to him, "Have we made you the king's counselor? Cease! Why should you be killed?" Then the prophet ceased, and said, "I know that God has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not heeded my advice."
