"So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

"And it shall be, when the LORD brings you into the land of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, which He swore to your fathers to give you, a land flowing with milk and honey, that you shall keep this service in this month.

'But I have said to you, "You shall inherit their land, and I will give it to you to possess, a land flowing with milk and honey." I [am] the LORD your God, who has separated you from the peoples.

Then they told him, and said: "We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this [is] its fruit.

"If the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, 'a land which flows with milk and honey.'

"[Is it] a small thing that you have brought us up out of a land flowing with milk and honey, to kill us in the wilderness, that you should keep acting like a prince over us?

For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness, till all the people [who were] men of war, who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not obey the voice of the LORD -- to whom the LORD swore that He would not show them the land which the LORD had sworn to their fathers that He would give us, "a land flowing with milk and honey."

"that I may establish the oath which I have sworn to your fathers, to give them 'a land flowing with milk and honey,' as [it is] this day." ' " And I answered and said, "So be it, LORD."

Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go [with us,] do not bring us up from here.

So the LORD said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name."

"Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation."

So the LORD relented from the harm which He said He would do to His people.

"I will strike them with the pestilence and disinherit them, and I will make of you a nation greater and mightier than they."

I would have said, "I will dash them in pieces, I will make the memory of them to cease from among men,"

Had I not feared the wrath of the enemy, Lest their adversaries should misunderstand, Lest they should say, "Our hand [is] high; And it is not the LORD who has done all this." '

"Therefore the LORD God of Israel says: 'I said indeed [that] your house and the house of your father would walk before Me forever.' But now the LORD says: 'Far be it from Me; for those who honor Me I will honor, and those who despise Me shall be lightly esteemed.

"The instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, to pull down, and to destroy [it,]

"And the instant I speak concerning a nation and concerning a kingdom, to build and to plant [it,]

"When I say to the wicked, 'You shall surely die,' and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked [man] shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand.

"Yet, if you warn the wicked, and he does not turn from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but you have delivered your soul.

"When I say to the righteous [that] he shall surely live, but he trusts in his own righteousness and commits iniquity, none of his righteous works shall be remembered; but because of the iniquity that he has committed, he shall die.

"[if] the wicked restores the pledge, gives back what he has stolen, and walks in the statutes of life without committing iniquity, he shall surely live; he shall not die.

And Jonah began to enter the city on the first day's walk. Then he cried out and said, "Yet forty days, and Nineveh shall be overthrown!"

Then God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God relented from the disaster that He had said He would bring upon them, and He did not do it.

And the LORD said to Moses, "I have seen this people, and indeed it [is] a stiff-necked people!

Then he said, "If now I have found grace in Your sight, O Lord, let my Lord, I pray, go among us, even though we [are] a stiff-necked people; and pardon our iniquity and our sin, and take us as Your inheritance."

"Therefore understand that the LORD your God is not giving you this good land to possess because of your righteousness, for you [are] a stiff-necked people.

"Also in Horeb you provoked the LORD to wrath, so that the LORD was angry [enough] with you to have destroyed you.

"Then the LORD delivered to me two tablets of stone written with the finger of God, and on them [were] all the words which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire in the day of the assembly.

"Then the LORD said to me, 'Arise, go down quickly from here, for your people whom you brought out of Egypt have acted corruptly; they have quickly turned aside from the way which I commanded them; they have made themselves a molded image.'

And may not be like their fathers, A stubborn and rebellious generation, A generation [that] did not set its heart aright, And whose spirit was not faithful to God.

" [You] stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers [did,] so [do] you.

"Beware of Him and obey His voice; do not provoke Him, for He will not pardon your transgressions; for My name [is] in Him.

"Now therefore, let Me alone, that My wrath may burn hot against them and I may consume them. And I will make of you a great nation."

"Separate yourselves from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment."

"Get away from among this congregation, that I may consume them in a moment." And they fell on their faces.

Hear and testify against the house of Jacob," Says the Lord GOD, the God of hosts,

"That in the day I punish Israel for their transgressions, I will also visit [destruction] on the altars of Bethel; And the horns of the altar shall be cut off And fall to the ground.
