"Speak now in the hearing of the people, and let every man ask from his neighbor and every woman from her neighbor, articles of silver and articles of gold."

Now the children of Israel had done according to the word of Moses, and they had asked from the Egyptians articles of silver, articles of gold, and clothing.

And the LORD had given the people favor in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they granted them [what they requested.] Thus they plundered the Egyptians.

"And also the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.

He also brought them out with silver and gold, And [there was] none feeble among His tribes.

Though he heaps up silver like dust, And piles up clothing like clay --

He may pile [it] up, but the just will wear [it,] And the innocent will divide the silver.

A good [man] leaves an inheritance to his children's children, But the wealth of the sinner is stored up for the righteous.

Woe to you who plunder, though you [have] not [been] plundered; And you who deal treacherously, though they have not dealt treacherously with you! When you cease plundering, You will be plundered; When you make an end of dealing treacherously, They will deal treacherously with you.

"They will not take wood from the field nor cut down [any] from the forests, because they will make fires with the weapons; and they will plunder those who plundered them, and pillage those who pillaged them," says the Lord GOD.
