"Did [any] people [ever] hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as you have heard, and live?

"Out of heaven He let you hear His voice, that He might instruct you; on earth He showed you His great fire, and you heard His words out of the midst of the fire.

"The LORD talked with you face to face on the mountain from the midst of the fire.

" These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly, in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud, and the thick darkness, with a loud voice; and He added no more. And He wrote them on two tablets of stone and gave them to me.

"This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and [with] our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us,

"who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept [it."]
