And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying,

"Send men to spy out the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the children of Israel; from each tribe of their fathers you shall send a man, every one a leader among them."

So Moses sent them from the Wilderness of Paran according to the command of the LORD, all of them men who [were] heads of the children of Israel.

Now these [were] their names: from the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur;

from the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori;

from the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh;
7
from the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph;

from the tribe of Ephraim, Hoshea the son of Nun;

from the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu;
10
from the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi;
11
from the tribe of Joseph, [that is,] from the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi;

from the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli;
13
from the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael;
14
from the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi;

And He said, "My Presence will go [with you,] and I will give you rest."

Then he said to Him, "If Your Presence does not go [with us,] do not bring us up from here.

"For how then will it be known that Your people and I have found grace in Your sight, except You go with us? So we shall be separate, Your people and I, from all the people who [are] upon the face of the earth."
17
So the LORD said to Moses, "I will also do this thing that you have spoken; for you have found grace in My sight, and I know you by name."
18
And he said, "Please, show me Your glory."
19
Then He said, "I will make all My goodness pass before you, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before you. I will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and I will have compassion on whom I will have compassion."
