To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. How long, O LORD? Will You forget me forever? How long will You hide Your face from me?

How long shall I take counsel in my soul, [Having] sorrow in my heart daily? How long will my enemy be exalted over me?

Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the LORD upholds [him with] His hand.

A Contemplation of Asaph. O God, why have You cast [us] off forever? [Why] does Your anger smoke against the sheep of Your pasture?

But You have cast off and abhorred, You have been furious with Your anointed.

How long, LORD? Will You hide Yourself forever? Will Your wrath burn like fire?

Can anyone hide himself in secret places, So I shall not see him?" says the LORD; "Do I not fill heaven and earth?" says the LORD.

"How long will [this] be in the heart of the prophets who prophesy lies? Indeed [they are] prophets of the deceit of their own heart,

For the Lord will not cast off forever.

Though He causes grief, Yet He will show compassion According to the multitude of His mercies.

I say then, has God cast away His people? Certainly not! For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham, [of] the tribe of Benjamin.

God has not cast away His people whom He foreknew. Or do you not know what the Scripture says of Elijah, how he pleads with God against Israel, saying,

How long, LORD? Will You be angry forever? Will Your jealousy burn like fire?

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of the sons of Korah. Lord, You have been favorable to Your land; You have brought back the captivity of Jacob.

Will You be angry with us forever? Will You prolong Your anger to all generations?
