"and [when] your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold are multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied;

"when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

" But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked; You grew fat, you grew thick, You are obese! Then he forsook God [who] made him, And scornfully esteemed the Rock of his salvation.

After these things King Ahasuerus promoted Haman, the son of Hammedatha the Agagite, and advanced him and set his seat above all the princes who [were] with him.

When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.

But he disdained to lay hands on Mordecai alone, for they had told him of the people of Mordecai. Instead, Haman sought to destroy all the Jews who [were] throughout the whole kingdom of Ahasuerus -- the people of Mordecai.

So Haman went out that day joyful and with a glad heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai in the king's gate, and that he did not stand or tremble before him, he was filled with indignation against Mordecai.

Then Haman told them of his great riches, the multitude of his children, everything in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the officials and servants of the king.

Why do the wicked live [and] become old, Yes, become mighty in power?

Their houses [are] safe from fear, Neither [is] the rod of God upon them.

They send forth their little ones like a flock, And their children dance.

They spend their days in wealth, And in a moment go down to the grave.

Who [is] the Almighty, that we should serve Him? And what profit do we have if we pray to Him?'

Because the sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.

" Moab has been at ease from his youth; He has settled on his dregs, And has not been emptied from vessel to vessel, Nor has he gone into captivity. Therefore his taste remained in him, And his scent has not changed.

"We have heard the pride of Moab (He [is] exceedingly proud), Of his loftiness and arrogance and pride, And of the haughtiness of his heart."

"Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because your heart [is] lifted up, And you say, 'I [am] a god, I sit [in] the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,' Yet you [are] a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of a god

With your wisdom and your understanding You have gained riches for yourself, And gathered gold and silver into your treasuries;

The king spoke, saying, "Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for a royal dwelling by my mighty power and for the honor of my majesty?"

Now the weight of the gold earrings that he requested was one thousand seven hundred [shekels] of gold, besides the crescent ornaments, pendants, and purple robes which [were] on the kings of Midian, and besides the chains that [were] around their camels' necks.

For they [will be] a graceful ornament on your head, And chains about your neck.

You have ravished my heart, My sister, [my] spouse; You have ravished my heart With one [look] of your eyes, With one link of your necklace.

The pendants, the bracelets, and the veils;

"I adorned you with ornaments, put bracelets on your wrists, and a chain on your neck.

Do not envy the oppressor, And choose none of his ways;

For they eat the bread of wickedness, And drink the wine of violence.

Woe to those who devise iniquity, And work out evil on their beds! At morning light they practice it, Because it is in the power of their hand.

They covet fields and take [them] by violence, Also houses, and seize [them.] So they oppress a man and his house, A man and his inheritance.

Thus says the LORD concerning the prophets Who make my people stray; Who chant "Peace" While they chew with their teeth, But who prepare war against him Who puts nothing into their mouths:

Indeed the wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out; and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Sabaoth.

You have condemned, you have murdered the just; he does not resist you.

As he clothed himself with cursing as with his garment, So let it enter his body like water, And like oil into his bones.

Let my accusers be clothed with shame, And let them cover themselves with their own disgrace as with a mantle.

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to [your] elders. Yes, all of [you] be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."
