To the Chief Musician. Set to "The Deer of the Dawn." A Psalm of David. My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me? [Why are You so] far from helping Me, [And from] the words of My groaning?

To the Chief Musician. A Contemplation of the sons of Korah. As the deer pants for the water brooks, So pants my soul for You, O God.

To the Chief Musician. Set to "The Lillies." A Contemplation of the sons of Korah. A Song of Love. My heart is overflowing with a good theme; I recite my composition concerning the King; My tongue [is] the pen of a ready writer.

Moreover David and the captains of the army separated for the service [some] of the sons of Asaph, of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who [should] prophesy with harps, stringed instruments, and cymbals. And the number of the skilled men performing their service was:

Of Jeduthun, the sons of Jeduthun: Gedaliah, Zeri, Jeshaiah, Shimei, Hashabiah, and Mattithiah, six, under the direction of their father Jeduthun, who prophesied with a harp to give thanks and to praise the LORD.

All these [were] the sons of Heman the king's seer in the words of God, to exalt his horn. For God gave Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.

To the Chief Musician. With stringed instruments. On an eight-stringed harp. A Psalm of David. O LORD, do not rebuke me in Your anger, Nor chasten me in Your hot displeasure.

To the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song. God be merciful to us and bless us, [And] cause His face to shine upon us. Selah

To the Chief Musician. On stringed instruments. A Psalm of Asaph. A Song. In Judah God [is] known; His name [is] great in Israel.

The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's [feet,] And He will make me walk on my high hills. To the Chief Musician. With my stringed instruments.

For the LORD [is] righteous, He loves righteousness; His countenance beholds the upright.

He shall receive blessing from the LORD, And righteousness from the God of his salvation.

As for me, You uphold me in my integrity, And set me before Your face forever.

He shall say, 'Surely in the LORD I have righteousness and strength. To Him [men] shall come, And all shall be ashamed Who are incensed against Him.

In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell safely; Now this [is] His name by which He will be called: THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God -- and righteousness and sanctification and redemption --

Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore [you] on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God.

For He made Him who knew no sin [to be] sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

They confronted me in the day of my calamity, But the LORD was my support.

He also brought me out into a broad place; He delivered me because He delighted in me.

And have not shut me up into the hand of the enemy; You have set my feet in a wide place.

To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.

He has put a new song in my mouth -- Praise to our God; Many will see [it] and fear, And will trust in the LORD.

The LORD preserves the simple; I was brought low, and He saved me.

O LORD, truly I [am] Your servant; I [am] Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds.

Moreover David said, "The LORD, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine." And Saul said to David, "Go, and the LORD be with you!"

Saul also sent messengers to David's house to watch him and to kill him in the morning. And Michal, David's wife, told him, saying, "If you do not save your life tonight, tomorrow you will be killed."

So Michal let David down through a window. And he went and fled and escaped.

Then Saul went on one side of the mountain, and David and his men on the other side of the mountain. So David made haste to get away from Saul, for Saul and his men were encircling David and his men to take them.

Therefore Saul returned from pursuing David, and went against the Philistines; so they called that place the Rock of Escape.

"Indeed He would have brought you out of dire distress, [Into] a broad place where [there is] no restraint; And what is set on your table [would be] full of richness.

For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life.

who delivered us from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that He will still deliver [us,]

To the Chief Musician. Set to "The Silent Dove in Distant Lands." A Michtam of David when the Philistines captured him in Gath. Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up; Fighting all day he oppresses me.

To the Chief Musician. Set to "Do Not Destroy." A Michtam of David when he fled from Saul into the cave. Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in You; And in the shadow of Your wings I will make my refuge, Until [these] calamities have passed by.

Be merciful to me, O Lord, For I cry to You all day long.

For You, Lord, [are] good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You.

I know, O LORD, that Your judgments [are] right, And [that] in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

Let Your tender mercies come to me, that I may live; For Your law [is] my delight.

Do not enter into judgment with Your servant, For in Your sight no one living is righteous.

And the LORD passed before him and proclaimed, "The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth,

"keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing [the guilty,] visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children's children to the third and the fourth generation."
