The wicked wait for me to destroy me, [But] I will consider Your testimonies.

A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son. LORD, how they have increased who trouble me! Many [are] they who rise up against me.

So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive.

And David's two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive.

While he [was] still speaking, another also came and said, "The Chaldeans formed three bands, raided the camels and took them away, yes, and killed the servants with the edge of the sword; and I alone have escaped to tell you!"

As bands of robbers lie in wait for a man, [So] the company of priests murder on the way to Shechem; Surely they commit lewdness.

I have gone astray like a lost sheep; Seek Your servant, For I do not forget Your commandments.

And David said to Saul: "Why do you listen to the words of men who say, 'Indeed David seeks your harm'?

"Moreover, my father, see! Yes, see the corner of your robe in my hand! For in that I cut off the corner of your robe, and did not kill you, know and see that [there is] neither evil nor rebellion in my hand, and I have not sinned against you. Yet you hunt my life to take it.

And David said to Abishai, "Do not destroy him; for who can stretch out his hand against the LORD's anointed, and be guiltless?"

"The LORD forbid that I should stretch out my hand against the LORD's anointed. But please, take now the spear and the jug of water that [are] by his head, and let us go."

Do not say, "I will do to him just as he has done to me; I will render to the man according to his work."

Repay no one evil for evil. Have regard for good things in the sight of all men.

Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but [rather] give place to wrath; for it is written, "Vengeance [is] Mine, I will repay," says the Lord.

Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.
