Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, "The dreams of Pharaoh [are] one; God has shown Pharaoh what He [is] about to do:

"And the seven thin and ugly cows which came up after them [are] seven years, and the seven empty heads blighted by the east wind are seven years of famine.

"Indeed seven years of great plenty will come throughout all the land of Egypt;

"So the plenty will not be known in the land because of the famine following, for it [will be] very severe.

And the sons of Israel went to buy [grain] among those who journeyed, for the famine was in the land of Canaan.

Now Joseph [was] governor over the land; and it was he who sold to all the people of the land. And Joseph's brothers came and bowed down before him with [their] faces to the earth.

Then Elisha spoke to the woman whose son he had restored to life, saying, "Arise and go, you and your household, and stay wherever you can; for the LORD has called for a famine, and furthermore, it will come upon the land for seven years."

If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done [it?]

Thus the Lord GOD showed me: Behold, He formed locust swarms at the beginning of the late crop; indeed [it was] the late crop after the king's mowings.

[So] the LORD relented concerning this. "It shall not be," said the LORD.

"Therefore the heavens above you withhold the dew, and the earth withholds its fruit.

"For I called for a drought on the land and the mountains, on the grain and the new wine and the oil, on whatever the ground brings forth, on men and livestock, and on all the labor of [your] hands."

'I struck you with blight and mildew and hail in all the labors of your hands; yet you did not [turn] to Me,' says the LORD.

The centurion answered and said, "Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof. But only speak a word, and my servant will be healed.

"For I also am a man under authority, having soldiers under me. And I say to this [one,] 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come,' and he comes; and to my servant, 'Do this,' and he does [it."]

So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth.

And wine [that] makes glad the heart of man, Oil to make [his] face shine, And bread [which] strengthens man's heart.

Now [there was] no bread in all the land; for the famine [was] very severe, so that the land of Egypt and the land of Canaan languished because of the famine.

"Why should we die before your eyes, both we and our land? Buy us and our land for bread, and we and our land will be servants of Pharaoh; give [us] seed, that we may live and not die, that the land may not be desolate."

When I have cut off your supply of bread, ten women shall bake your bread in one oven, and they shall bring back your bread by weight, and you shall eat and not be satisfied.

For behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, Takes away from Jerusalem and from Judah The stock and the store, The whole supply of bread and the whole supply of water;

Moreover He said to me, "Son of man, surely I will cut off the supply of bread in Jerusalem; they shall eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and shall drink water by measure and with dread,

"Now a famine and great trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance.
