Then the LORD said to Moses, "Stretch out your hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, darkness [which] may even be felt."

So Moses stretched out his hand toward heaven, and there was thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days.

Then Joshua spoke to the LORD in the day when the LORD delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: "Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon."

All the inhabitants of the earth [are] reputed as nothing; He does according to His will in the army of heaven And [among] the inhabitants of the earth. No one can restrain His hand Or say to Him, "What have You done?"

For behold, He who forms mountains, And creates the wind, Who declares to man what his thought [is,] And makes the morning darkness, Who treads the high places of the earth -- The LORD God of hosts [is] His name.

"And it shall come to pass in that day," says the Lord GOD, "That I will make the sun go down at noon, And I will darken the earth in broad daylight;

" Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken.

He seals the hand of every man, That all men may know His work.

" Have you commanded the morning since your days [began,] [And] caused the dawn to know its place,

It takes on form like clay [under] a seal, And stands out like a garment.

For the stars of heaven and their constellations Will not give their light; The sun will be darkened in its going forth, And the moon will not cause its light to shine.

When [I] put out your light, I will cover the heavens, and make its stars dark; I will cover the sun with a cloud, And the moon shall not give her light.

" And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring;

"men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of heaven will be shaken.
