And when they raised their eyes from afar, and did not recognize him, they lifted their voices and wept; and each one tore his robe and sprinkled dust on his head toward heaven.

Upright [men] are astonished at this, And the innocent stirs himself up against the hypocrite.

My bone clings to my skin and to my flesh, And I have escaped by the skin of my teeth.

" Have pity on me, have pity on me, O you my friends, For the hand of God has struck me!

The princes refrained from talking, And put [their] hand on their mouth;

"Behold, I am vile; What shall I answer You? I lay my hand over my mouth.

And they said to him, "Be quiet, put your hand over your mouth, and come with us; be a father and a priest to us. [Is it] better for you to be a priest to the household of one man, or that you be a priest to a tribe and a family in Israel?"

I was mute, I did not open my mouth, Because it was You who did [it.]

If you have been foolish in exalting yourself, Or if you have devised evil, [put your] hand on [your] mouth.

Therefore the prudent keep silent at that time, For it [is] an evil time.

The nations shall see and be ashamed of all their might; They shall put [their] hand over [their] mouth; Their ears shall be deaf.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and His ways past finding out!
