Should your empty talk make men hold their peace? And when you mock, should no one rebuke you?

They gape at me with their mouth, They strike me reproachfully on the cheek, They gather together against me.

[Are] not mockers with me? And does not my eye dwell on their provocation?

" But He has made me a byword of the people, And I have become one in whose face men spit.

Bear with me that I may speak, And after I have spoken, keep mocking.

"But now they mock at me, [men] younger than I, Whose fathers I disdained to put with the dogs of my flock.

All those who see Me ridicule Me; They shoot out the lip, they shake the head, [saying,]

"He trusted in the LORD, let Him rescue Him; Let Him deliver Him, since He delights in Him!"

With ungodly mockers at feasts They gnashed at me with their teeth.

When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put [it] on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying, "Hail, King of the Jews!"

Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment.

My friends scorn me; My eyes pour out [tears] to God.

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I [will be] with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

'Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.'

Therefore I will look to the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation; My God will hear me.

He who walks in his uprightness fears the LORD, But [he who is] perverse in his ways despises Him.

And they ridiculed Him. But when He had put them all outside, He took the father and the mother of the child, and those [who were] with Him, and entered where the child was lying.

Now the Pharisees, who were lovers of money, also heard all these things, and they derided Him.

And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, "We will hear you again on this [matter."]
