Then I would still have comfort; Though in anguish, I would exult, He will not spare; For I have not concealed the words of the Holy One.

Although You know that I am not wicked, And [there is] no one who can deliver from Your hand?

But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always [be] ready to [give] a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear;

Yield now, let there be no injustice! Yes, concede, my righteousness still stands!

Is there injustice on my tongue? Cannot my taste discern the unsavory?

Have I sinned? What have I done to You, O watcher of men? Why have You set me as Your target, So that I am a burden to myself?

"Truly I know [it is] so, But how can a man be righteous before God?

If one wished to contend with Him, He could not answer Him one time out of a thousand.

Who can bring a clean [thing] out of an unclean? No one!

"For Job has said, 'I am righteous, But God has taken away my justice;

Should I lie concerning my right? My wound [is] incurable, [though I am] without transgression.'

"Do you think this is right? Do you say, 'My righteousness is more than God's'?
