That the triumphing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the hypocrite is [but] for a moment?

Do horses run on rocks? Does [one] plow [there] with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into gall, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,

You who rejoice over Lo Debar, Who say, "Have we not taken Karnaim for ourselves By our own strength?"

Woe to you who are full, For you shall hunger. Woe to you who laugh now, For you shall mourn and weep.

"Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice; and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.

Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and [your] joy to gloom.

And all the king's servants who [were] within the king's gate bowed and paid homage to Haman, for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai would not bow or pay homage.

In whose eyes a vile person is despised, But he honors those who fear the LORD; He [who] swears to his own hurt and does not change;

"And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

When Haman saw that Mordecai did not bow or pay him homage, Haman was filled with wrath.

So Ahab went into his house sullen and displeased because of the word which Naboth the Jezreelite had spoken to him; for he had said, "I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers." And he lay down on his bed, and turned away his face, and would eat no food.

If the men of my tent have not said, 'Who is there that has not been satisfied with his meat?'

Though an army may encamp against me, My heart shall not fear; Though war should rise against me, In this I [will be] confident.

Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. So they brought these men before the king.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

"But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."

Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.

When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with [their] teeth.
