This same Hezekiah also stopped the water outlet of Upper Gihon, and brought the water by tunnel to the west side of the City of David. Hezekiah prospered in all his works.

They arose and took away the altars that [were] in Jerusalem, and they took away all the incense altars and cast [them] into the Brook Kidron.

After these deeds of faithfulness, Sennacherib king of Assyria came and entered Judah; he encamped against the fortified cities, thinking to win them over to himself.

Now it came to pass in the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which [was] the seventh year of Hoshea the son of Elah, king of Israel, [that] Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it.

And in the fourteenth year of King Hezekiah, Sennacherib king of Assyria came up against all the fortified cities of Judah and took them.

"Truly, LORD, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands,

For he says, '[Are] not my princes altogether kings?

"Therefore give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?"

Now two women [who were] harlots came to the king, and stood before him.

And one woman said, "O my lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house; and I gave birth while she [was] in the house.

So [Elisha] turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.
