Do you thus deal with the LORD, O foolish and unwise people? [Is] He not your Father, [who] bought you? Has He not made you and established you?

What shall I render to the LORD [For] all His benefits toward me?

I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD.

Take words with you, And return to the LORD. Say to Him, "Take away all iniquity; Receive [us] graciously, For we will offer the sacrifices of our lips.

So Jesus answered and said, "Were there not ten cleansed? But where [are] the nine?

"Were there not any found who returned to give glory to God except this foreigner?"

However, [regarding] the ambassadors of the princes of Babylon, whom they sent to him to inquire about the wonder that was [done] in the land, God withdrew from him, in order to test him, that He might know all [that was] in his heart.

"Indeed you say that you have defeated the Edomites, and your heart is lifted up to boast. Stay at home now; why should you meddle with trouble, that you should fall -- you and Judah with you?"

But when he was strong his heart was lifted up, to [his] destruction, for he transgressed against the LORD his God by entering the temple of the LORD to burn incense on the altar of incense.

"lest -- [when] you have eaten and are full, and have built beautiful houses and dwell [in them;]

"when your heart is lifted up, and you forget the LORD your God who brought you out of the land of Egypt, from the house of bondage;

"You have indeed defeated Edom, and your heart has lifted you up. Glory [in that,] and stay at home; for why should you meddle with trouble so that you fall -- you and Judah with you?"

And Hezekiah was attentive to them, and showed them all the house of his treasures -- the silver and gold, the spices and precious ointment, and all his armory -- all that was found among his treasures. There was nothing in his house or in all his dominion that Hezekiah did not show them.

"Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord GOD: "Because your heart [is] lifted up, And you say, 'I [am] a god, I sit [in] the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,' Yet you [are] a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of a god

By your great wisdom in trade you have increased your riches, And your heart is lifted up because of your riches),"

"Your heart was lifted up because of your beauty; You corrupted your wisdom for the sake of your splendor; I cast you to the ground, I laid you before kings, That they might gaze at you.

"But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.

"And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who [holds] your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

" Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith.

And lest I should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.

not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the [same] condemnation as the devil.

Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to [your] elders. Yes, all of [you] be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."

Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,

Therefore they left the house of the LORD God of their fathers, and served wooden images and idols; and wrath came upon Judah and Jerusalem because of their trespass.

Again the anger of the LORD was aroused against Israel, and He moved David against them to say, "Go, number Israel and Judah."

And David's heart condemned him after he had numbered the people. So David said to the LORD, "I have sinned greatly in what I have done; but now, I pray, O LORD, take away the iniquity of Your servant, for I have done very foolishly."

"Go and tell David, 'Thus says the LORD: "I offer you three [things;] choose one of them for yourself, that I may do [it] to you." ' "

And David said to Gad, "I am in great distress. Please let us fall into the hand of the LORD, for His mercies [are] great; but do not let me fall into the hand of man."

And when the angel stretched out His hand over Jerusalem to destroy it, the LORD relented from the destruction, and said to the angel who was destroying the people, "It is enough; now restrain your hand." And the angel of the LORD was by the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.

Now Satan stood up against Israel, and moved David to number Israel.

'either three years of famine, or three months to be defeated by your foes with the sword of your enemies overtaking [you,] or else for three days the sword of the LORD -- the plague in the land, with the angel of the LORD destroying throughout all the territory of Israel.' Now consider what answer I should take back to Him who sent me."

So the LORD sent a plague upon Israel, and seventy thousand men of Israel fell.

Then David lifted his eyes and saw the angel of the LORD standing between earth and heaven, having in his hand a drawn sword stretched out over Jerusalem. So David and the elders, clothed in sackcloth, fell on their faces.
