So Asa rested with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the City of David his father. Then Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his place.

Jehoshaphat the son of Asa had become king over Judah in the fourth year of Ahab king of Israel.

Now these [were] the heads of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel.

Asa begot Jehoshaphat, Jehoshaphat begot Joram, and Joram begot Uzziah.

Now it came to pass, when Rehoboam had established the kingdom and had strengthened himself, that he forsook the law of the LORD, and all Israel along with him.

Also the Ammonites brought tribute to Uzziah. His fame spread as far as the entrance of Egypt, for he became exceedingly strong.

And he strengthened himself, built up all the wall that was broken, raised [it] up to the towers, and [built] another wall outside; also he repaired the Millo [in] the City of David, and made weapons and shields in abundance.

Then Jonathan, Saul's son, arose and went to David in the woods and strengthened his hand in God.

'The king will mourn, The prince will be clothed with desolation, And the hands of the common people will tremble. I will do to them according to their way, And according to what they deserve I will judge them; Then they shall know that I [am] the LORD!' "

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.
