for many fell dead, because the war [was] God's. And they dwelt in their place until the captivity.

And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed; and when he let down his hand, Amalek prevailed.

And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the LORD heeded the voice of a man; for the LORD fought for Israel.

All these kings and their land Joshua took at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

And when Judah looked around, to their surprise the battle line [was] at both front and rear; and they cried out to the LORD, and the priests sounded the trumpets.

Then the men of Judah gave a shout; and as the men of Judah shouted, it happened that God struck Jeroboam and all Israel before Abijah and Judah.

And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, "LORD, [it is] nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You [are] our God; do not let man prevail against You!"

And Asa and the people who [were] with him pursued them to Gerar. So the Ethiopians were overthrown, and they could not recover, for they were broken before the LORD and His army. And they carried away very much spoil.

So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It [is] the king of Israel!" Therefore they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him.

"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes [are] upon You."

Now because of this King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah, the son of Amoz, prayed and cried out to heaven.

Then the LORD sent an angel who cut down every mighty man of valor, leader, and captain in the camp of the king of Assyria. So he returned shamefaced to his own land. And when he had gone into the temple of his god, some of his own offspring struck him down with the sword there.

So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "Surely it [is] the king of Israel!" Therefore they turned aside to fight against him, and Jehoshaphat cried out.

But Jeroboam caused an ambush to go around behind them; so they were in front of Judah, and the ambush [was] behind them.

And when Judah looked around, to their surprise the battle line [was] at both front and rear; and they cried out to the LORD, and the priests sounded the trumpets.

So Asa went out against him, and they set the troops in battle array in the Valley of Zephathah at Mareshah.

And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, "LORD, [it is] nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude. O LORD, You [are] our God; do not let man prevail against You!"

So it was, when the captains of the chariots saw Jehoshaphat, that they said, "It [is] the king of Israel!" Therefore they surrounded him to attack; but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him, and God diverted them from him.

And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Some [trust] in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the LORD our God.

They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright.

Our fathers trusted in You; They trusted, and You delivered them.

They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.

For the LORD God [is] a sun and shield; The LORD will give grace and glory; No good [thing] will He withhold From those who walk uprightly.

O LORD of hosts, Blessed [is] the man who trusts in You!

"Blessed [is] the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD.

For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.

The LORD [is] good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him.

that we who first trusted in Christ should be to the praise of His glory.
