" For My thoughts [are] not your thoughts, Nor [are] your ways My ways," says the LORD.

"For [as] the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts.

Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable [are] His judgments and His ways past finding out!

"For who has known the mind of the LORD? Or who has become His counselor?"

And David said to Solomon: "My son, as for me, it was in my mind to build a house to the name of the LORD my God;

"but the word of the LORD came to me, saying, 'You have shed much blood and have made great wars; you shall not build a house for My name, because you have shed much blood on the earth in My sight.

Then King David rose to his feet and said, "Hear me, my brethren and my people: I [had] it in my heart to build a house of rest for the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and for the footstool of our God, and had made preparations to build it.

"But God said to me, 'You shall not build a house for My name, because you [have been] a man of war and have shed blood.'

But it happened that night that the word of the LORD came to Nathan, saying,

"Go and tell My servant David, 'Thus says the LORD: "Would you build a house for Me to dwell in?

'Nevertheless you shall not build the temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the temple for My name.'

"But the LORD said to my father David, 'Whereas it was in your heart to build a temple for My name, you did well in that it was in your heart.

'Nevertheless you shall not build the temple, but your son who will come from your body, he shall build the temple for My name.'
