"For what great nation [is there] that has God [so] near to it, as the LORD our God [is] to us, for whatever [reason] we may call upon Him?

" For ask now concerning the days that are past, which were before you, since the day that God created man on the earth, and [ask] from one end of heaven to the other, whether [any] great [thing] like this has happened, or [anything] like it has been heard.

"Or did God [ever] try to go [and] take for Himself a nation from the midst of [another] nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

"[There is] no one like the God of Jeshurun, [Who] rides the heavens to help you, And in His excellency on the clouds.

Then Israel shall dwell in safety, The fountain of Jacob alone, In a land of grain and new wine; His heavens shall also drop dew.

He has not dealt thus with any nation; And [as for His] judgments, they have not known them. Praise the LORD!

And the LORD said: "I have surely seen the oppression of My people who [are] in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows.

"So I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

'You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and [how] I bore you on eagles' wings and brought you to Myself.

'And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These [are] the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel."

"You shall remember that you were a slave in the land of Egypt, and the LORD your God redeemed you; therefore I command you this thing today.

You have with [Your] arm redeemed Your people, The sons of Jacob and Joseph. Selah

Let the redeemed of the LORD say [so,] Whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy,

He has sent redemption to His people; He has commanded His covenant forever: Holy and awesome [is] His name.

In all their affliction He was afflicted, And the Angel of His Presence saved them; In His love and in His pity He redeemed them; And He bore them and carried them All the days of old.

who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from every lawless deed and purify for Himself [His] own special people, zealous for good works.

You showed signs and wonders against Pharaoh, Against all his servants, And against all the people of his land. For You knew that they acted proudly against them. So You made a name for Yourself, as [it is] this day.

"For My name's sake I will defer My anger, And [for] My praise I will restrain it from you, So that I do not cut you off.

Who led [them] by the right hand of Moses, With His glorious arm, Dividing the water before them To make for Himself an everlasting name,

"But I acted for My name's sake, that it should not be profaned before the Gentiles among whom they [were,] in whose sight I had made Myself known to them, to bring them out of the land of Egypt.

" Therefore I made them go out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

"Or did God [ever] try to go [and] take for Himself a nation from the midst of [another] nation, by trials, by signs, by wonders, by war, by a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?

[By] awesome deeds in righteousness You will answer us, O God of our salvation, [You who are] the confidence of all the ends of the earth, And of the far-off seas;

Say to God, "How awesome are Your works! Through the greatness of Your power Your enemies shall submit themselves to You.

Come and see the works of God; [He is] awesome [in His] doing toward the sons of men.

He rules by His power forever; His eyes observe the nations; Do not let the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah

The sea saw [it] and fled; Jordan turned back.

What ails you, O sea, that you fled? O Jordan, [that] you turned back?

Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Lord, At the presence of the God of Jacob,

When You did awesome things [for which] we did not look, You came down, The mountains shook at Your presence.

"When the LORD your God brings you into the land which you go to possess, and has cast out many nations before you, the Hittites and the Girgashites and the Amorites and the Canaanites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites, seven nations greater and mightier than you,

"and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them [and] utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them.

All these kings and their land Joshua took at one time, because the LORD God of Israel fought for Israel.

So the LORD gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it.

Not a word failed of any good thing which the LORD had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

'Then you went over the Jordan and came to Jericho. And the men of Jericho fought against you -- [also] the Amorites, the Perizzites, the Canaanites, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites. But I delivered them into your hand.

'I sent the hornet before you which drove them out from before you, [also] the two kings of the Amorites, [but] not with your sword or with your bow.

You drove out the nations with Your hand, But them You planted; You afflicted the peoples, and cast them out.

For they did not gain possession of the land by their own sword, Nor did their own arm save them; But it was Your right hand, Your arm, and the light of Your countenance, Because You favored them.
