Then he said to Gehazi his servant, "Call this Shunammite woman." When he had called her, she stood before him.

Now Gehazi went on ahead of them, and laid the staff on the face of the child; but [there was] neither voice nor hearing. Therefore he went back to meet him, and told him, saying, "The child has not awakened."

And he called Gehazi and said, "Call this Shunammite woman." So he called her. And when she came in to him, he said, "Pick up your son."

Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed Him.

Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?"

This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's [son,] to betray Him,

And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

saying, "Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit."

The lazy [man is] wiser in his own eyes Than seven men who can answer sensibly.

"So the master commended the unjust steward because he had dealt shrewdly. For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light.

"Why was this fragrant oil not sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?"

This he said, not that he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the money box; and he used to take what was put in it.

And he kept back [part] of the proceeds, his wife also being aware [of it,] and brought a certain part and laid [it] at the apostles' feet.

Then he said, "God do so to me and more also, if the head of Elisha the son of Shaphat remains on him today."

" You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold [him] guiltless who takes His name in vain.

"For [as] the LORD lives, who saves Israel, though it be in Jonathan my son, he shall surely die." But not a man among all the people answered him.

" You shall not covet your neighbor's house; you shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that [is] your neighbor's."

For the wicked boasts of his heart's desire; He blesses the greedy [and] renounces the LORD.

"Yet your eyes and your heart [are] for nothing but your covetousness, For shedding innocent blood, And practicing oppression and violence."

" Woe to him who covets evil gain for his house, That he may set his nest on high, That he may be delivered from the power of disaster!

And He said to them, "Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one's life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses."

But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and [into] many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.

But you, O man of God, flee these things and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, gentleness.

for Demas has forsaken me, having loved this present world, and has departed for Thessalonica -- Crescens for Galatia, Titus for Dalmatia.

For a bishop must be blameless, as a steward of God, not self-willed, not quick-tempered, not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money,

Shepherd the flock of God which is among you, serving as overseers, not by compulsion but willingly, not for dishonest gain but eagerly;

having eyes full of adultery and that cannot cease from sin, enticing unstable souls. [They have] a heart trained in covetous practices, [and are] accursed children.

They have forsaken the right way and gone astray, following the way of Balaam the [son] of Beor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;
