There were more leaders found of the sons of Eleazar than of the sons of Ithamar, and [thus] they were divided. Among the sons of Eleazar [were] sixteen heads of [their] fathers' houses, and eight heads of their fathers' houses among the sons of Ithamar.

And the scribe, Shemaiah the son of Nethanel, [one of] the Levites, wrote them down before the king, the leaders, Zadok the priest, Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, and the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the priests and Levites, one father's house taken for Eleazar and [one] for Ithamar.

the third to Harim, the fourth to Seorim,

the seventh to Hakkoz, the eighth to Abijah,

the eleventh to Eliashib, the twelfth to Jakim,

the fifteenth to Bilgah, the sixteenth to Immer,

the nineteenth to Pethahiah, the twentieth to Jehezekel,

the twenty-third to Delaiah, the twenty-fourth to Maaziah.

Then the chief priests, the scribes, and the elders of the people assembled at the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

When morning came, all the chief priests and elders of the people plotted against Jesus to put Him to death.

"Go up to Hilkiah the high priest, that he may count the money which has been brought into the house of the LORD, which the doorkeepers have gathered from the people.

Concerning the divisions of the gatekeepers: of the Korahites, Meshelemiah the son of Kore, of the sons of Asaph.

Elam the fifth, Jehohanan the sixth, Eliehoenai the seventh.

Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth; for God blessed him.

The sons of Shemaiah [were] Othni, Rephael, Obed, and Elzabad, whose brothers Elihu and Semachiah [were] able men.

And Meshelemiah had sons and brethren, eighteen able men.

Hilkiah the second, Tebaliah the third, Zechariah the fourth; all the sons and brethren of Hosah [were] thirteen.

And they cast lots for each gate, the small as well as the great, according to their father's house.

to Obed-Edom the South Gate, and to his sons the storehouse.

On the east were [six] Levites, on the north four each day, on the south four each day, and for the storehouse two by two.

These were the divisions of the gatekeepers among the sons of Korah and among the sons of Merari.

For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had destroyed; he raised up altars for Baal, and made a wooden image, as Ahab king of Israel had done; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.

He even set a carved image of Asherah that he had made, in the house of which the LORD had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;

For he rebuilt the high places which Hezekiah his father had broken down; he raised up altars for the Baals, and made wooden images; and he worshiped all the host of heaven and served them.

He even set a carved image, the idol which he had made, in the house of God, of which God had said to David and to Solomon his son, "In this house and in Jerusalem, which I have chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, I will put My name forever;

For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his father David; and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images.

They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and the incense altars which [were] above them he cut down; and the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images he broke in pieces, and made dust of them and scattered [it] on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

So they left all the commandments of the LORD their God, made for themselves a molded image [and] two calves, made a wooden image and worshiped all the host of heaven, and served Baal.

They forsook the LORD and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.

And it came to pass, as though it had been a trivial thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took as wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal, king of the Sidonians; and he went and served Baal and worshiped him.

"Now therefore, send [and] gather all Israel to me on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and the four hundred prophets of Asherah, who eat at Jezebel's table."

So they took the bull which was given them, and they prepared [it,] and called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying, "O Baal, hear us!" But [there was] no voice; no one answered. Then they leaped about the altar which they had made.

And Elijah said to them, "Seize the prophets of Baal! Do not let one of them escape!" So they seized them; and Elijah brought them down to the Brook Kishon and executed them there.

"Yet I have reserved seven thousand in Israel, all whose knees have not bowed to Baal, and every mouth that has not kissed him."

Therefore by this the iniquity of Jacob will be covered; And this [is] all the fruit of taking away his sin: When he makes all the stones of the altar Like chalkstones that are beaten to dust, Wooden images and incense altars shall not stand.

"Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and walk after other gods whom you do not know,

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the wilderness.

When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.

And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.

" Though you, Israel, play the harlot, Let not Judah offend. Do not come up to Gilgal, Nor go up to Beth Aven, Nor swear an oath, [saying,] 'As the LORD lives' --

" Come to Bethel and transgress, At Gilgal multiply transgression; Bring your sacrifices every morning, Your tithes every three days.
