"Thus says the king: 'Do not let Hezekiah deceive you, for he shall not be able to deliver you from his hand;

When with rebukes You correct man for iniquity, You make his beauty melt away like a moth; Surely every man [is] vapor. Selah

Have mercy on us, O LORD, have mercy on us! For we are exceedingly filled with contempt.

Our soul is exceedingly filled With the scorn of those who are at ease, With the contempt of the proud.

"For thus says the LORD: 'We have heard a voice of trembling, Of fear, and not of peace.

Alas! For that day [is] great, So that none [is] like it; And it [is] the time of Jacob's trouble, But he shall be saved out of it.

I will return again to My place Till they acknowledge their offense. Then they will seek My face; In their affliction they will earnestly seek Me."

Come, and let us return to the LORD; For He has torn, but He will heal us; He has stricken, but He will bind us up.

"Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As [in] the day of trial in the wilderness,

while it is said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion."

For who, having heard, rebelled? Indeed, [was it] not all who came out of Egypt, [led] by Moses?

As a woman with child Is in pain and cries out in her pangs, When she draws near the time of her delivery, So have we been in Your sight, O LORD.

We have been with child, we have been in pain; We have, as it were, brought forth wind; We have not accomplished any deliverance in the earth, Nor have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

Shall I bring to the time of birth, and not cause delivery?" says the LORD. "Shall I who cause delivery shut up [the womb?"] says your God.

The sorrows of a woman in childbirth shall come upon him. He [is] an unwise son, For he should not stay long where children are born.
