Then the king of Assyria brought [people] from Babylon, Cuthah, Ava, Hamath, and from Sepharvaim, and placed [them] in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel; and they took possession of Samaria and dwelt in its cities.

So they went up and spied out the land from the Wilderness of Zin as far as Rehob, near the entrance of Hamath.

'from Mount Hor you shall mark out [your border] to the entrance of Hamath; then the direction of the border shall be toward Zedad;

It shall come to pass in that day [That] the LORD shall set His hand again the second time To recover the remnant of His people who are left, From Assyria and Egypt, From Pathros and Cush, From Elam and Shinar, From Hamath and the islands of the sea.

But the Chaldean army pursued them and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho. And when they had captured him, they brought him up to Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, to Riblah in the land of Hamath, where he pronounced judgment on him.

Against Damascus. "Hamath and Arpad are shamed, For they have heard bad news. They are fainthearted; [There is] trouble on the sea; It cannot be quiet.

Also [against] Hamath, [which] borders on it, And [against] Tyre and Sidon, though they are very wise.

'Where [are] the gods of Hamath and Arpad? Where [are] the gods of Sepharvaim and Hena and Ivah? Indeed, have they delivered Samaria from my hand?

'Where [is] the king of Hamath, the king of Arpad, and the king of the city of Sepharvaim, Hena, and Ivah?' "

Then Hezekiah prayed to the LORD, saying:

"Incline Your ear, O LORD, and hear; open Your eyes, O LORD, and see; and hear all the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent to reproach the living God.

"and have cast their gods into the fire; for they [were] not gods, but the work of men's hands -- wood and stone. Therefore they have destroyed them.
