Therefore the LORD his God delivered him into the hand of the king of Syria. They defeated him, and carried away a great multitude of them as captives, and brought [them] to Damascus. Then he was also delivered into the hand of the king of Israel, who defeated him with a great slaughter.

Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not turn away its [punishment,] Because they have threshed Gilead with implements of iron.

I will also break the [gate] bar of Damascus, And cut off the inhabitant from the Valley of Aven, And the one who holds the scepter from Beth Eden. The people of Syria shall go captive to Kir," Says the LORD.

Elam bore the quiver With chariots of men [and] horsemen, And Kir uncovered the shield.

" [Are] you not like the people of Ethiopia to Me, O children of Israel?" says the LORD. "Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt, The Philistines from Caphtor, And the Syrians from Kir?

"For before the Child shall know to refuse the evil and choose the good, the land that you dread will be forsaken by both her kings.

Therefore the LORD shall set up The adversaries of Rezin against him, And spur his enemies on,
