In the seventh year Jehoiada strengthened himself, [and made a] covenant with the captains of hundreds: Azariah the son of Jeroham, Ishmael the son of Jehohanan, Azariah the son of Obed, Maaseiah the son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat the son of Zichri.

Then all the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. And he said to them, "Behold, the king's son shall reign, as the LORD has said of the sons of David.

"one-third [shall be] at the king's house; and one-third at the Gate of the Foundation. All the people [shall be] in the courts of the house of the LORD.

"And the Levites shall surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand; and whoever comes into the house, let him be put to death. You are to be with the king when he comes in and when he goes out."

And Jehoiada the priest gave to the captains of hundreds the spears and the large and small shields which [had belonged] to King David, that [were] in the temple of God.

And they brought out the king's son, put the crown on him, [gave him] the Testimony, and made him king. Then Jehoiada and his sons anointed him, and said, "[Long] live the king!"

When she looked, there was the king standing by his pillar at the entrance; and the leaders and the trumpeters [were] by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, also the singers with musical instruments, and those who led in praise. So Athaliah tore her clothes and said, "Treason! Treason!"

So they seized her; and she went by way of the entrance of the Horse Gate [into] the king's house, and they killed her there.

So the captains of the hundreds did according to all that Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each of them took his men who were to be on duty on the Sabbath, with those who were going off duty on the Sabbath, and came to Jehoiada the priest.

and their brethren, heads of their fathers' [houses -- one] thousand seven hundred and sixty. [They were] very able men for the work of the service of the house of God.

Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be.

Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.

Then Jehoiada made a covenant between the LORD, the king, and the people, that they should be the LORD's people, and [also] between the king and the people.

Then the king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes, with all [his] heart and all [his] soul, to perform the words of this covenant that were written in this book. And all the people took a stand for the covenant.

So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

Then Jonathan and David made a covenant, because he loved him as his own soul.

So the two of them made a covenant before the LORD. And David stayed in the woods, and Jonathan went to his own house.

Then they entered into a covenant to seek the LORD God of their fathers with all their heart and with all their soul;

"Now [it is] in my heart to make a covenant with the LORD God of Israel, that His fierce wrath may turn away from us.

Then the king stood in his place and made a covenant before the LORD, to follow the LORD, and to keep His commandments and His testimonies and His statutes with all his heart and all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant that were written in this book.

And he made all who were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin take a stand. So the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.

" And because of all this, We make a sure [covenant,] and write [it;] our leaders, our Levites, [and] our priests seal [it."]

Then Joseph took an oath from the children of Israel, saying, "God will surely visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here."

"[As] the LORD your God lives, there is no nation or kingdom where my master has not sent someone to hunt for you; and when they said, '[He is] not [here,'] he took an oath from the kingdom or nation that they could not find you.

So they said, "We will restore [it,] and will require nothing from them; we will do as you say." Then I called the priests, and required an oath from them that they would do according to this promise.

these joined with their brethren, their nobles, and entered into a curse and an oath to walk in God's Law, which was given by Moses the servant of God, and to observe and do all the commandments of the LORD our Lord, and His ordinances and His statutes:
