Also he removed Maachah his grandmother from [being] queen mother, because she had made an obscene image of Asherah. And Asa cut down her obscene image and burned [it] by the Brook Kidron.

And all the country wept with a loud voice, and all the people crossed over. The king himself also crossed over the Brook Kidron, and all the people crossed over toward the way of the wilderness.

And he brought out the wooden image from the house of the LORD, to the Brook Kidron outside Jerusalem, burned it at the Brook Kidron and ground [it] to ashes, and threw its ashes on the graves of the common people.

Then the priests went into the inner part of the house of the LORD to cleanse [it,] and brought out all the debris that they found in the temple of the LORD to the court of the house of the LORD. And the Levites took [it] out and carried [it] to the Brook Kidron.

"And the whole valley of the dead bodies and of the ashes, and all the fields as far as the Brook Kidron, to the corner of the Horse Gate toward the east, [shall be] holy to the LORD. It shall not be plucked up or thrown down anymore forever."

When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with His disciples over the Brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which He and His disciples entered.

Then the king said to him, "Do as he has said, and strike him down and bury him, that you may take away from me and from the house of my father the innocent blood which Joab shed.

"Their blood shall therefore return upon the head of Joab and upon the head of his descendants forever. But upon David and his descendants, upon his house and his throne, there shall be peace forever from the LORD."

'For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood [shall be] upon him.

"So it shall be [that] whoever goes outside the doors of your house into the street, his blood [shall be] on his own head, and we [will be] guiltless. And whoever is with you in the house, his blood [shall be] on our head if a hand is laid on him.

So David said to him, "Your blood [is] on your own head, for your own mouth has testified against you, saying, 'I have killed the LORD's anointed.' "

If he has exacted usury Or taken increase -- Shall he then live? He shall not live! If he has done any of these abominations, He shall surely die; His blood shall be upon him.
