The king put Benaiah the son of Jehoiada in his place over the army, and the king put Zadok the priest in the place of Abiathar.

Then he conferred with Joab the son of Zeruiah and with Abiathar the priest, and they followed and helped Adonijah.

"For he has gone down today, and has sacrificed oxen and fattened cattle and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king's sons, and the commanders of the army, and Abiathar the priest; and look! They are eating and drinking before him; and they say, '[Long] live King Adonijah!'

Anathoth with its common-land, and Almon with its common-land: four cities.

Lift up your voice, O daughter of Gallim! Cause it to be heard as far as Laish -- O poor Anathoth!

The words of Jeremiah the son of Hilkiah, of the priests who [were] in Anathoth in the land of Benjamin,

"This thing that you have done [is] not good. [As] the LORD lives, you deserve to die, because you have not guarded your master, the LORD's anointed. And now see where the king's spear [is,] and the jug of water that [was] by his head."

So David's anger was greatly aroused against the man, and he said to Nathan, "[As] the LORD lives, the man who has done this shall surely die!

Now one of the sons of Ahimelech the son of Ahitub, named Abiathar, escaped and fled after David.

So David said to Abiathar, "I knew that day, when Doeg the Edomite [was] there, that he would surely tell Saul. I have caused [the death] of all the persons of your father's house.

Now it happened, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David at Keilah, [that] he went down [with] an ephod in his hand.

Then Saul called all the people together for war, to go down to Keilah to besiege David and his men.

There was Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar went up until all the people had finished crossing over from the city.

Therefore Zadok and Abiathar carried the ark of God back to Jerusalem. And they remained there.

And David called for Zadok and Abiathar the priests, and for the Levites: for Uriel, Asaiah, Joel, Shemaiah, Eliel, and Amminadab.

He said to them, "You [are] the heads of the fathers' [houses] of the Levites; sanctify yourselves, you and your brethren, that you may bring up the ark of the LORD God of Israel to [the place] I have prepared for it.

There was Zadok also, and all the Levites with him, bearing the ark of the covenant of God. And they set down the ark of God, and Abiathar went up until all the people had finished crossing over from the city.

"But if He says thus: 'I have no delight in you,' here I am, let Him do to me as seems good to Him."

"See, I will wait in the plains of the wilderness until word comes from you to inform me."

"And whoever gives one of these little ones only a cup of cold [water] in the name of a disciple, assuredly, I say to you, he shall by no means lose his reward."

"But you are those who have continued with Me in My trials.

Have you suffered so many things in vain -- if indeed [it was] in vain?
