In the days of Pekah king of Israel, Tiglath-Pileser king of Assyria came and took Ijon, Abel Beth Maachah, Janoah, Kedesh, Hazor, Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali; and he carried them captive to Assyria.

And he set up one in Bethel, and the other he put in Dan.

Now when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his three hundred and eighteen trained [servants] who were born in his own house, and went in pursuit as far as Dan.

And they called the name of the city Dan, after the name of Dan their father, who was born to Israel. However, the name of the city formerly [was] Laish.

And he went through all the tribes of Israel to Abel and Beth Maachah and all the Berites. So they were gathered together and also went after [Sheba.]

Then they came and besieged him in Abel of Beth Maachah; and they cast up a siege mound against the city, and it stood by the rampart. And all the people who [were] with Joab battered the wall to throw it down.

and to the kings who [were] from the north, in the mountains, in the plain south of Chinneroth, in the lowland, and in the heights of Dor on the west,

and the eastern Jordan plain from the Sea of Chinneroth as far as the Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), the road to Beth Jeshimoth, and southward below the slopes of Pisgah.
