"Give ear, O heavens, and I will speak; And hear, O earth, the words of my mouth.

Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth! For the LORD has spoken: "I have nourished and brought up children, And they have rebelled against Me;

"Cry aloud, spare not; Lift up your voice like a trumpet; Tell My people their transgression, And the house of Jacob their sins.

O earth, earth, earth, Hear the word of the LORD!

"And you, son of man, prophesy to the mountains of Israel, and say, 'O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the LORD!

'therefore, O mountains of Israel, hear the word of the Lord GOD! Thus says the Lord GOD to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys, the desolate wastes, and the cities that have been forsaken, which became plunder and mockery to the rest of the nations all around --

"I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws, and lead you out, with all your army, horses, and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company [with] bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords.

But He answered and said to them, "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out."

Josiah [was] eight years old when he became king, and he reigned thirty-one years in Jerusalem. His mother's name [was] Jedidah the daughter of Adaiah of Bozkath.

And he did [what was] right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in all the ways of his father David; he did not turn aside to the right hand or to the left.

Moreover the altar that [was] at Bethel, [and] the high place which Jeroboam the son of Nebat, who made Israel sin, had made, both that altar and the high place he broke down; and he burned the high place [and] crushed [it] to powder, and burned the wooden image.

Then he said, "What gravestone [is] this that I see?" So the men of the city told him, "[It is] the tomb of the man of God who came from Judah and proclaimed these things which you have done against the altar of Bethel."

They broke down the altars of the Baals in his presence, and the incense altars which [were] above them he cut down; and the wooden images, the carved images, and the molded images he broke in pieces, and made dust of them and scattered [it] on the graves of those who had sacrificed to them.

And [so he did] in the cities of Manasseh, Ephraim, and Simeon, as far as Naphtali and all around, with axes.

Behold, the former things have come to pass, And new things I declare; Before they spring forth I tell you of them."

Who confirms the word of His servant, And performs the counsel of His messengers; Who says to Jerusalem, 'You shall be inhabited,' To the cities of Judah, 'You shall be built,' And I will raise up her waste places;

Who says of Cyrus, '[He is] My shepherd, And he shall perform all My pleasure, Saying to Jerusalem, "You shall be built," And to the temple, "Your foundation shall be laid." '

Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times [things] that are not [yet] done, Saying, 'My counsel shall stand, And I will do all My pleasure,'

Even from the beginning I have declared [it] to you; Before it came to pass I proclaimed [it] to you, Lest you should say, 'My idol has done them, And my carved image and my molded image Have commanded them.'

They are created now and not from the beginning; And before this day you have not heard them, Lest you should say, 'Of course I knew them.'
