And God raised up [another] adversary against him, Rezon the son of Eliadah, who had fled from his lord, Hadadezer king of Zobah.

He was an adversary of Israel all the days of Solomon (besides the trouble that Hadad [caused);] and he abhorred Israel, and reigned over Syria.

When the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand of the Syrians.

Then David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus; and the Syrians became David's servants, [and] brought tribute. So the LORD preserved David wherever he went.

For the head of Syria [is] Damascus, And the head of Damascus [is] Rezin. Within sixty-five years Ephraim will be broken, [So that it will] not [be] a people.

God will not withdraw His anger, The allies of the proud lie prostrate beneath Him.

They have said, "Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more."

The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab and the Hagrites;

Assyria also has joined with them; They have helped the children of Lot. Selah

" Be shattered, O you peoples, and be broken in pieces! Give ear, all you from far countries. Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces; Gird yourselves, but be broken in pieces.

Take counsel together, but it will come to nothing; Speak the word, but it will not stand, For God [is] with us."

Now the Egyptians [are] men, and not God; And their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out His hand, Both he who helps will fall, And he who is helped will fall down; They all will perish together.
