Then he distributed to everyone of Israel, both man and woman, to everyone a loaf of bread, a piece [of meat,] and a cake of raisins.

For Hezekiah king of Judah gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and seven thousand sheep, and the leaders gave to the assembly a thousand bulls and ten thousand sheep; and a great number of priests sanctified themselves.

Then Josiah gave the [lay] people lambs and young goats from the flock, all for Passover [offerings] for all who were present, to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand cattle; these [were] from the king's possessions.

And his leaders gave willingly to the people, to the priests, and to the Levites. Hilkiah, Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of God, gave to the priests for the Passover [offerings] two thousand six hundred [from the flock,] and three hundred cattle.

Then they removed the burnt offerings that [they] might give them to the divisions of the fathers' houses of the [lay] people, to offer to the LORD, as [it is] written in the Book of Moses. And so [they did] with the cattle.

Also they roasted the Passover [offerings] with fire according to the ordinance; but the [other] holy [offerings] they boiled in pots, in caldrons, and in pans, and divided [them] quickly among all the [lay] people.

Then he said to them, "Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for [this] day [is] holy to our LORD. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength."

"Then it shall be the prince's part [to give] burnt offerings, grain offerings, and drink offerings, at the feasts, the New Moons, the Sabbaths, and at all the appointed seasons of the house of Israel. He shall prepare the sin offering, the grain offering, the burnt offering, and the peace offerings to make atonement for the house of Israel."

"I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.' "

Therefore He says: "When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men."

On the eighth day he sent the people away; and they blessed the king, and went to their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the good that the LORD had done for His servant David, and for Israel His people.

On the twenty-third day of the seventh month he sent the people away to their tents, joyful and glad of heart for the good that the LORD had done for David, for Solomon, and for His people Israel.
